Start Your LLC in 5 Steps:

1. Pick a Name - Make sure it’s unique and includes “LLC.” Check name availability at your state’s business registry (find your state at www.sba.gov/business-guide/launch-your-business/choose-business-structure/register-your-business).

2. Choose a Registered Agent - Select someone to handle legal documents.

3. File Articles of Organization - Submit the LLC formation form online in your state. File through your state’s Secretary of State website (find your state at www.sba.gov/business-guide/launch-your-business/choose-business-structure/register-your-business).

4. Get an EIN - Apply for a free Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS. Apply at www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/apply-for-an-employer-identification-number-ein-online.

5. Open a Bank Account - Use your EIN to set up a business account.
