I wanted to let everyone know that the proposition for the purchase of the Curie building by us, was turned down by the Saint Joe town board. I didn’t want everyone to continue to think the project would be happening, when the board came back with the ‘building is not for sale’. Billy and I were tired of the building falling apart and not being used, so we proposed to do something with it. We wanted to get the town‘s opinion (hence the petition) and submit it to the board, along with the proposal of purchase so they knew that the town is on board with this project. Our goal was not to get everyone’s hopes up for something that won’t happen, but to encourage the town board to sell us this building that is deteriorating, infested with bats, dropping bricks on our diner and not being used. Also, to let them know the popular vote of the town. We made the AI pictures of the Sav-A-Lot and Hardware Store, so everyone could have a visual of our vision. It is always nice to have pictures! We feel it was a great idea, restoring it as historically as possible, but apparently the town board has other ideas for this building. We apologize about the letdown or if we led anyone on in any way. It was a proposal for purchase with a generous amount given, and to also submit our vision with backing.
