The sandwich named grinder also earned its name from men working in shipyards. During the second world war, the first grinder sandwiches were found in the shipbuilding yards of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Local Italian vendors near the shipyards assembled large sandwiches for the men who worked on iron and steel. These men were nicknamed grinders since their jobs entail grinding and installing steel rivets.

Hey everybody! -Kitchenā€™s warming up this morning -you can smell it before you even get through the door.
Weather shifted this week, so weā€™re rolling straight into the cozy stuff.
Weā€™re running the Reuben Grinder this week pastrami, Swiss and American, 1000 dressing, kraut, freshā€‘baked hoagie roll, ovenā€‘toasted melty good!
Comfort food doing what comfort food does.
And yep ā€” our Hungarian Mushroom Soup is back in the pot.
Velvety mushrooms, herbs, spicesā€¦ that deep, earthy thing it does when the weather turns.
