Y’all may have heard about the emergency surgery our good friend had this past weekend to remove a brain tumor. If you don’t know Jason, he’s an anchor in our community and a huge supporter of small businesses in Northwest Oregon. Jason currently serves as the director of the Oregon Entrepreneur Network and previously served as the director of the Columbia County Small Business Resource Center. If you own or work in a small business in Columbia County, you’ve likely crossed paths with Jason. We first met Jason shortly after we opened our original, 30-seat sweatbox of a taproom in Uptown St Helens back in 2021 when he became a regular customer and shortly after loaned us part of his incredible collection of concert posters to hang on our bare walls. Since then we’ve had the opportunity to get to know Jason as a close friend and have worked with him over the past few years as a resource to slowly grow our little business in a time when owning a brewery and restaurant is anything but easy.
Normally at this time of the year we’d be brewing our fall seasonal Skelly IPA and decided to switch gears this year and brew a b**r to support Jason through his recovery. This week we brewed a new IPA for Jason that will be out in mid-October and we’ll be donating 100% of the profits to support him and his family as they navigate recovery, therapy, ongoing treatment, and the pile of bills that will inevitably follow.
We could use your help in a couple of ways… first, watch for this b**r to be released in a couple weeks and help us consume it! Second, we need to name this b**r. We gave Jason an opportunity to name it and he deferred to us and we’re opening it up to you for suggestions. Comment with your suggestion for this b**r’s name and if we go with your name we’ll give you a $25 gift card for the taproom.
Get better soon Jason!
