☀️🐾 The 90° Temps Are Coming... Know the Signs of Heat Stroke! 🐾☀️

With temperatures expected to climb into the 90s this week, it's more important than ever to protect your pets from the dangers of overheating. Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency—but knowing the warning signs and taking simple precautions can save a life.

🚨 Signs of Heat Stroke:
🐶 Heavy panting or difficulty breathing
💧 Thick drool or excessive thirst
👀 Glazed eyes
❤️ Rapid heartbeat
🐾 Weakness, staggering, or loss of coordination
😴 Lethargy or unwillingness to move
👅 Bright red or purple gums and tongue
⚠️ Collapse or seizures (severe cases)

🐕 Pets Most at Risk:
• Puppies and senior pets
• Short-nosed breeds (Pugs, Bulldogs, Boxers, etc.)
• Thick-coated breeds
• Overweight pets
• Pets with underlying medical conditions

✅ Help Prevent Heat Stroke:
💦 Keep fresh, cool water available at all times.
🌳 Provide plenty of shade outdoors.
❄️ Keep pets indoors or in air conditioning during extreme heat.
🚶 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.
🔥 Avoid hot pavement—if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.
🚗 Never leave pets unattended in a parked vehicle.
⏸️ Limit strenuous exercise and take frequent water breaks.

⏱️ If you think your pet is overheating, don't wait. Move them to a cool area, begin cooling them with cool (not ice-cold) water or towels, and seek veterinary care immediately.

🎆🐾 Fireworks Are Fun for Us... But Frightening for Many Pets. 🐾🎆

The Fourth of July is one of the busiest times of year for animal shelters because frightened pets panic, escape their homes, and become lost.

The good news? A few simple steps can help keep your furry family members safe.

Before the Fireworks Begin:
🎾 Exercise your pet early in the day to help them relax.
🏠 Bring pets indoors well before dark.
🔒 Double-check fences, gates, doors, and windows to prevent accidental escapes.
🏷️ Make sure collars fit properly and ID tags and microchip information are up to date.
📺 Close curtains, turn on the TV, radio, or a white noise machine to help mask the sounds.
❤️ Stay home with your pet if you can. Your calm presence can make all the difference.

🚫 Even pets who have never been afraid before can panic when fireworks start. Please don't bring them to fireworks displays or leave them outside during celebrations.

Let's make this Independence Day a safe one for every member of the family—especially the four-legged ones who don't understand what all the loud noises are about.
