After sharing the news of our robbery, we were overwhelmed with support from our community. As an Asian-owned business and growing up in a predominantly POC environment, asking for help and accepting donations from others does not come naturally. We were raised to figure it out ourselves. But the truth is that we do need help, and it touched our hearts to see how many of you are willing to support us. You all are the reason why we do what we do – cook dayum good food.
Initially, we were hesitant to set up a GoFundMe, but you all motivated us to do so. All proceeds raised will go towards the next chapter of Chay Corner. We will rethink our foodservice approach, reposition ourselves in a way that will serve you more effectively, and revitalize our operations so we can quickly get back on our feet.
Transparency is important to us, and depending on how much we raise, here’s what your funding will go towards:
- New equipment and tools that were lost during the burglary
- Upgrading services to include more catering options and possibly delivery
- Extending commercial kitchen hours to keep our staff cool during the warming summer months
- Emergency funds to protect us from future pitfalls
We will make an effort to use these funds on local businesses to extend your dollars back to the community. We sincerely appreciate all of your business so far over the past few years and are inspired to keep compassion, comfort, and cravings at the forefront of Chay Corner. We’re not finished yet; only getting started!
