From long hours of practice to performing when it counts, these ProStart students proved they have what it takes to compete on the national stage and come home with a 4th place trophy and scholarships. We’re so proud of this team who represented California with passion and determination. 💪

Highlighting another Restaurants Care® Resilience Fund recipient from last year's cycle!

Meet Slice Of Humboldt Pie in Arcata. Founded by Kristen and Amber Thompson, this beloved pie shop started in a rented kitchen in 2013 before opening its first storefront in 2015.

Through the pandemic, personal health challenges and years of growth, the team continued rolling every crust by hand while building a stronger future for their business and community. Today, with expanded production space and new opportunities for growth, Slice of Humboldt Pie is focused on training employees, creating quality jobs and serving Humboldt with heart. This grant was powered by Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

During Experience Hospitality Week presented by U.S. Bank, our ProStart students recently explored the many career paths within hospitality and discovered that the industry goes far beyond the kitchen.

From front-of-house leadership to event coordination, marketing, operations and more, students learned about the wide range of roles that help bring the hospitality experience to life. We loved seeing snippets from their day!
