My business needs help against deep pocketed landlords who don’t want to fix their building to where we can’t safely operate.

For years, Pure Soul has dealt with ongoing setbacks, financial strain, lack of transparency, and systems that made operating far harder than it should have been. We have kept showing up and kept investing anyway because this business matters deeply to us and to this community.

In this location, we have poured substantial money, labor, time, and heart into building our business. But continuing under these conditions is no longer sustainable, and no small business tenant should be expected to carry major building-related burdens while still paying rent and CAM charges.

Donations will help cover legal fees to fight this situation and relocation costs so Pure Soul has a real chance to survive this chapter and move forward. Donations will also help us continue serving food in some capacity while we navigate this situation, so we can keep showing up for our customers, support our staff, and protect the future of Pure Soul.

This is not about lack of demand. This is not about poor planning. This is about protecting something we have spent years building against deep pockets and what we believe has been unfair and unsustainable treatment, and refusing to lose it without a fight.

We need to be more direct about what is happening.

Through all of it, we kept showing up, kept investing, and kept fighting for this business.

In this location, we have poured substantial money, labor, time, and heart into building Pure Soul. For a small independent restaurant, that kind of investment is not small, and neither is the cost of starting over somewhere else.

At this point, continuing under these conditions is not sustainable. We are not willing, and not in a position, to continue carrying burdens tied to a building we do not own while still paying rent and CAM charges. No small business tenant should be expected to absorb major building-related costs in that kind of situation.

That is why we are asking for help.

Today I got surprised with flowers from my manager/work daughter’s little girl when I came in to pick up a catering order, and I instantly burst into tears.

It was one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me.

People see a restaurant, but they do not always see the family behind it. They do not see the people who work hard every day, believe in the vision, hold each other down, and help carry this place forward.

Yes, I know we will keep going in some capacity no matter what. But the truth is, it would not be the same.

What would break my heart is seeing this little work family affected or pulled apart after everything we have worked for. Two of my staff members have been with Pure Soul for over four years and have been a huge part of this journey. Our newer crew members have brought so much positivity, energy, and enthusiasm, and we want so badly to keep everyone together.

That is what people do not always understand. Pure Soul is not just a business to me. It is people I love. It is years of hard work, belief, and sacrifice. It is a team that finally feels aligned and a space filled with heart.

And when my manager’s daughter runs up to me with flowers and calls me “Mimi” and “I luh you”, just know this is bigger than food. This is family. 🫶

With my birthday coming up in a couple weeks, I can honestly say this is not where I thought life would be. But moments like this remind me why I am still fighting so hard.

I love my team more than words can say. They are a huge part of what Pure Soul is, and always will be. 💐💖

Sacramento, we need our community right now.

Pure Soul is facing serious business challenges, but we are still here and still fighting to stay open.

This business was built with heart, resilience, and purpose. So many of you have shown us love, supported us, and reminded us that what we do matters. We will never forget that.

Right now, we are asking for connection and support from anyone who may be able to help, including attorneys, contractors, collaborators, community leaders, and people who believe local businesses deserve a fair chance.
