This is what happens when I have asked dad one too many times to say cheese for the camera lol!

We are so excited for bbq day here at down home. Dad has worked real hard, and truly put the emphasis on "baby" back ribs, the way he has taken care of this pork. We will begin selling at 11, so perfect timing for yall to come get ya some before the UT game gets started.

I don't know how momma does it, but she has out done herself on this chicken. I've never had fried chicken so juicy and flavorful that the juice literally dripped down my hand while eating it. Yall have got to come get you some before its all gone, and I believe with food this good, it will be gone fast!

You all have asked, and its time yall receive. We cant think of a better way to kick off the cool weather, then to do it bbq style. Coming from someone who isn't the biggest fan of bbq- dads is the only ones I will eat. I am personally so excited to watch him fire up the ole smoker.

As always, thank you to our community for the continued support. We are excited to see how the Lord will work through this little place, one customer at a time. We view each customer as a friend, and it sure does our hearts good seeing our friends fed well.

Well y’all… after much thought, prayer, and a whole lot of phone calls and messages asking us to bring it back, we’ve decided to give breakfast another go.

So, starting on Wednesday (9/9/2026), breakfast is coming back to Penny’s Down Home Country Cooking! Momma and I will be here every morning, doing what we love—getting in that kitchen, firing up the grill, and cooking a good ol’ country breakfast for our community.

And as for that gravy… well, you don’t have to worry about what kind it’s gonna be! If you know Momma, then you know she’s one heck of a grill woman. There’s just something about watching her get in there and do what she loves that makes my heart happy.

We’ll be opening the doors at 8:00 AM every morning, except Sundays, and we’ll be serving breakfast until 11:00 AM. I can’t tell y’all how excited I am to see those familiar faces walking back through our doors in the mornings. The folks who’ve been with us through the years, the ones who grew up eating breakfast here, and the new faces we haven’t had the chance to meet yet.

We’re a small, family-owned country restaurant, and we’re proud of it. We’re proud to be a part of this community, proud to be a little piece of our town’s history, and most of all, we’re thankful that y’all continue to choose to spend your mornings, afternoons, and special moments around our tables.

We truly believe a good meal can bring people together. Sometimes it’s more than just breakfast—it’s catching up with an old friend, sitting around the table with your family, meeting somebody new, or just starting your day with a full belly and a happy heart. We want to see growth for our community, one plate, one conversation, and one meal at a time.

So please, spread the word and share this post! Help us get breakfast back on the map and help us fill those tables with our wonderful community again. Thank y’all, from the bottom of our hearts, for your continued love, support, and for allowing us to do what we love most—feeding our people.

If you are holtridge or if you know who this is I want you to know it’s not true. There was a small green vehicle pull up then pull out. They didn’t come to the door because if they did they would have walked in. We were open at 7 I just didn’t turn the closed sign. Our waitress had not showed up but the owner was here and did have everything going and ready to serve at 7:00 am
