Thank you to those who joined us at Smokey House Center's Forest & Field Fest this past weekend! We loved seeing so many of you stop by the Vermont Farmers Food Center table and take a guess at how many seeds were hiding inside one tomato from our friends at Singing Cedars Farmstead in Orwell -

Have you ever stopped to think about just how MANY seeds are packed inside a single tomato? It’s pretty amazing when you think about it! 🤯🍅

Well… our staff counted them all from this one gorgeous organically grown chosen tomato, and the answer is…

🥁🥁🥁 509 Seeds! 🌱

Thank you to everyone who played along, made a guess, and shared in the fun with us! We hope you left thinking a little more about the incredible food we get to eat, the farmers who grow it, and the amazing journey from seed to table. 💚

Another round of thank you's for Farmacy Friday round-ups!

We are grateful to the Windham Foundation for their generous contribution to Vermont Farmers Food Center’s Farmacy Project this year. Their support helps us continue connecting our community with fresh, local food and make sure our twelfth year of Food Is Medicine here in Rutland is a great one!

This week, we also want to give a special shoutout to our wonderful volunteers, John and Jackie Plue, who help make Farmacy shares possible through their time and dedication to showing up on a Wednesday morning.

And of course, a huge thank you to our farm partner, Evening Song Farm, for growing the beautiful, delicious bok choy featured in this week’s shares. We are proud to work with local farmers who help bring fresh Vermont food to our community. 🥬

Progress is happening right before our eyes!

Every week, we look out and see another exciting transformation of the Vermont Farmers Food Center. Watching our vision become reality has been a long time coming, and we're grateful for everyone helping make it happen.

A special thank you goes out to the hardworking construction crew who continue showing up day after day—working high up on the roof through the summer heat, rainy days, and whatever Vermont weather has in store.

As we continue expanding our Farmers Hall with new aggregation, storage, cross-docking, and commercial kitchen space, we're reminded that great things are built by great people.

Thank you to Naylor & Breen Builders, Inc. and Vermont Roofing Company for making this next chapter of VFFC possible. We can't wait to share more progress with you soon!

🍂 We know... it's still summer! ☀️

The gardens are growing, farmers are hard at work, and we're soaking up every bit of the season while it's here.

As much as we love summer, it always seems to fly by. Before we know it, the leaves will be changing, the harvest will be at its peak, and we'll be gathering together to celebrate the incredible farmers, producers, partners, and community that make our local food system so special here in Vermont and our Rutland area.

🎉 VFFC's Harvest Fest will be here before you know it, and we can't wait to celebrate another amazing harvest season with all of you. So stay tuned—we'll be announcing the save-the-date soon!
