What is a cupping event?
We recently got the opportunity to attend a cupping event in Holly Springs NC hosted by De La Finca Coffee Importers. We shared the video last week and we got lots of questions about what a cupping event is. So we thought we would explain.
A cupping event is an opportunity for coffee professionals to show off the beans they're working with but it is also a networking event. In our case, this was a chance to meet the De La Finca Coffee Importers team in person after multiple buys of their Honduran coffee over text and email.
There is a strict order to the actual cupping, and score cards for ranking characteristics like aroma, flavor notes, body, and finish.
In addition to meeting the DLF team, Monte got to meet some really cool roasters from the central and eastern portions of NC and had an incredible lunch.
It was a 10/10 experience, and we are already looking forward to the next one!
