Let's settle this once and for all: darker roast does NOT mean more caffeine.

Here's what roast level actually changes:

Light roast — Higher acidity, fruit & floral notes, denser bean, longer shelf life. More nuance in the cup.

Medium roast — Balanced. Mild chocolate tones, sometimes hints of fruit depending on origin.

Dark roast — Bold, earthy, dark chocolate. More body. Higher risk of bitterness if not brewed right.

Pro tip: your coffee hits peak flavor 1-2 weeks after roasting and stays great through 4-8 weeks.
