I know Covid affects everyone and the situation really stinks regardless of how you think we should proceed. I ask this of any friend.... Please shop as much as possible with your local businesses. Consider purchasing gift certificates from them. There is a big misconception that they got bailed out the last time. That’s a big mistruth! They were given a loan that was only forgiven if the money was used toward payroll and rent. They did not receive a dime to lost revenue for those months. They kept people employed instead of sending them to unemployment. They did not gain from the so called Cares Act, but it did borrow time for them to get through the shutdown. There is zero stimulus money this time, and they have been operating at 50 % at best. Please, please consider spending your money with them versus a corporation that’s going to send your money elsewhere. Remember that these are the places you go to for donations and sponsorships of your community. These independent businesses built these towns long before the corporations showed up. I shop myself at corporations, but please consider spending your money elsewhere during this time. Where you spend your money is another way to vote everyday. These independents do not have Lobbyists in government asking for government favors and getting paid on both sides of the fence. I work for an independent company who sells food to independent restaurants, so I’m a little scared, and yes a little bias, but everything I stated above is true. So please stop for a second, and the next time you’re going to grab your wallet, see if you can’t make a bigger impact in your local community by spending money locally versus online. I will be spending the night trying to figure out how I’m going to help my customers get through another storm. Everyone stay healthy and let’s get through this.
