THE MORNING WATCH
August 10, 2026 — “God Is Still Working on You”
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 1:6 (NASB)
Some mornings you can look at your life and wonder, “Why am I not farther along by now?” He looks at you and God says, you are. What we think are setbacks are actually readjustments in life so we have room for the blessings yet to come.
Maybe you’ve prayed about the same weakness or setbacks more times than you can count. Maybe you’ve stumbled again, become discouraged, or looked at someone else’s life and wondered why their road seems straighter than yours. Why do they seem to be reaping when I’m still sewing? Remember, what they may be reaping may not be something good in the end. You reap what you sew.
Paul reminds us of something important: God isn’t finished.
Following Christ is not about becoming perfect overnight. It’s about allowing God to keep shaping you, sometimes through victories, sometimes through failures, and sometimes through long stretches of road where you cannot yet see what He’s accomplishing. We have to be patient! Let the chef prepare the perfect dinner at the perfect timing.
If God began His work in you, don’t mistake an unfinished chapter for the end of the story. Don’t try and read ahead and miss out on the experience and learning lessons along the way. Sometimes the best journeys have the best stories that happened along the way.
🛠️ Practical Application:
Instead of asking, “Why haven’t I arrived yet?”, ask:
“Lord, what are You trying to teach me on this part of the trail?”
Choose one area where you’ve been discouraged and give it back to God today. Make the next right decision, even if it seems small.
One prayer.
One act of forgiveness.
One temptation resisted.
One person encouraged.
One honest conversation.
One step back toward God.
Small acts of obedience become miles traveled when you keep walking.
🤠 MARSHAL’S PARABLE — The Half-Built Bridge
An old town marshal and his deputy came upon a bridge being built across a wide river.
Only half of it was finished.
The deputy shook his head.
“That’s not much of a bridge, Marshal. It doesn’t even reach the other side.”
The marshal watched the workers setting another timber into place.
Then he answered:
“You’re judging a finished job while you’re looking at unfinished work.”
The deputy stared across the river.
The marshal continued:
“Come back when the builder says he’s done.”
Months later they rode through again.
The bridge stretched completely across the river.
The marshal smiled.
“See, son? Never judge the Builder by what something looks like halfway through construction.”
Maybe today you’re standing somewhere in the middle.
God has removed some things.
He’s rebuilding others.
Some pieces don’t seem to fit yet.
Don’t judge God’s finished work by today’s construction site.
❤️ If You Feel Far From God, maybe you’ve wandered again.
Maybe you’re disappointed in yourself because you thought you’d be stronger by now.
Don’t let shame convince you to keep walking away. Turn around.
You don’t have to clean yourself up before speaking to God. Come honestly:
“Jesus, I’m not where I want to be, but I don’t want to stay where I am. Keep working in me.”
God’s mercy isn’t exhausted because your journey has taken longer than expected.
The Builder is still working.
🙏 Morning Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for not giving up on us halfway through the work. Give strength to those who are tired of struggling, hope to those who cannot see progress, wisdom to those facing difficult choices, and mercy to those who have wandered away.
Help us stop comparing our unfinished lives with someone else’s journey.
Correct what needs correcting. Remove what needs removing. Strengthen what is weak and rebuild what has been broken.
And when we become discouraged with ourselves, remind us that You are still working. Give us faith to trust the Builder even while we’re standing in the construction.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You may not be where you want to be yet.
Keep praying.
Keep learning.
Keep obeying.
Keep riding.
There’s still work being done.
✝️ Don’t judge the Builder by the unfinished bridge. God isn’t finished with you yet.
