On July 27, 1953, the Korean War Armistice Agreement was signed, bringing an end to more than three years of active fighting on the Korean Peninsula. While the agreement established a ceasefire, a formal peace treaty was never signed.

Today, we pause to remember the more than 36,000 Americans who gave their lives during the Korean War and the millions of others who served with courage and honor. Often referred to as the "Forgotten War," its veterans made extraordinary sacrifices in defense of freedom and our nation's values.

The City of Rupert extends its sincere gratitude to all Korean War veterans and their families. Your service, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten.

Happy Pioneer Day!

Today we honor the courage, determination, and resilience of the pioneers who helped settle the American West. Their hard work, perseverance, and vision laid the foundation for many of the communities we know and love today, including those throughout Southern Idaho.

Pioneer Day is an opportunity to reflect on the spirit of service, sacrifice, and neighbor helping neighbor—values that continue to strengthen our community.

As we celebrate our shared heritage, we also recognize and appreciate all those who have contributed to the growth and success of Rupert through the generations.
