Meet the Downshift Brew Crew ❤️ Say hello to Autumn!

You can find Autumn leading our front-of-house crew at Hidden Tap, mixing up cocktails, pouring b**rs, and keeping things running smoothly. Every now and then, she’ll head down the street to lend a helping hand at Riverside, too.

We’re so happy to have Autumn as part of the Downshift family, be sure to say hey next time you see her. 🍻

Why Downshift? The environment as a whole! The amazing coworkers, amazing owners and amazing customers!! It just feels like home!!!

Favorite b**r? Before pregnancy I’ve always been a Fiesta Fuel Michelada girl (with Bobby’s pickle hot sauce), but now I’ve switched to our house made root b**r 😊🍺

Favorite food? Tap tacos all the way!! Depending on the day and mood it’s either the Baja fish tacos or the carnitas pork tacos. 🌮😋

Fun fact: I can quote just about every single episode of every season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My life motto is what would Buffy do? 😅

When we named Downshift, we were thinking about the kind of life we wanted to build: more time enjoying these mountains, more connection with the people around us, and a place to bring everyone together over a good b**r. This week has felt like that idea coming to life on a whole new scale.

XTERRA began in Maui in 1996. Thirty years later, Ruidoso is welcoming its first World Championship in the continental United States. Seeing athletes and families from around the world here in our hometown is something we’ll remember for a long time.

At Downshift, we’ve been honored to host morning XTERRA meetings, evening yoga, and Tuesday’s meet & greet with athletes, staff, and our community. We’re also pouring at the park and finish line, helping celebrate an incredible week of adventure.

Those moments between events have been some of our favorites: conversations with new visitors, familiar faces welcoming them in, and people finding common ground a long way from home. Bringing people together is at the heart of why we do this.

XTERRA’s “Fiercely Human” message feels especially meaningful to Ruidoso. Our community knows what it takes to keep showing up for each other through hard times. Recovery is still part of our story, and weeks like this give us something exciting to build toward together. We’re hopeful about this next chapter for Ruidoso, sharing our trails, supporting our local businesses, and welcoming people who may arrive for a race and find a place they want to return to.

Thank you to XTERRA, the Village of Ruidoso, the volunteers, our Downshift team, and everyone putting their heart into this week. To every athlete getting ready to race, we’re cheering for you! To everyone visiting, we’re so glad you’re here.

October is here, and Ruidoso has A LOT going on! This is one of our favorite times of the year and we’re kicking things off with a huge fall weekend with the AspenFest parade and festival (find us pouring at the park!), followed by XTERRA World Championship week.

The calendar is packed with live music, Run Club, songwriter nights, Open Mic, trivia, Crafts & Drafts, Vinyl Night and plenty more at Riverside and Hidden Tap. Plus, we're anxiously awaiting the return of Lil' Boo Thang Pumpkin b**r! 👻

And once Halloween gets close, things get appropriately weird. 🎃Save this calendar and come downshift with us.

Born and Brewed in Ruidoso🍻

Duckworth Farms | Fresh Hop Hazy IPA
ABV 6.5% | IBU 40

Our flagship IPA, Snowday, gets a taste of home with locally grown hops. Grown right here in Ruidoso through a collaboration between Downshift Brewing Company and the Duckworth family, these are the first Ruidoso-grown hops to make their way into a b**r, at least that we know of. A seasonal special, brewed to celebrate the season and the place we call home.

🍻🌭Das Oktoberfest has arrived! The big day is here and we are ready, 2 to 10 PM at Riverside.

We’ve got a full day of b**r, German food, live music, contests, vendors and more!

Reminder that you must have valid ID to drink, no weapons of any kind, no outside food or drink, no pets please, and good attitudes only! There are two entry lines - VIP/stroller and general admission.

Get ready to chicken dance and raise a stein with us, Prost! 🍺

That’s a wrap on hop selection 2026 for us after visits to Crosby Hops in Oregon and Yakima Chief in Washington, with some fun sightseeing and brewery stops along the way. This year we were selecting our lots of Mosaic, Citra, Amarillo, Cascade, El Dorado, Strata and Thora hops.

We choose to invest time, energy and money in hop selection as we prioritize producing Downshift b**r with the same intention behind it that we try to put in to everything we make and do. Selecting specific lots of our hops allows us to better control the end product we make, and that you eventually get to drink.

We had an awesome time visiting, and learning from, our hop selection partners. We enjoyed some excellent fresh hop b**rs, learned about some new things to come in hop breeding and growing, and are looking forward to putting these beautiful hops into our b**rs for you to enjoy soon!🍻
