There’s something about Jamaica’s national colors that never goes out of style. 🇯🇲💚🖤💛
No matter where life takes us, black, green, and gold are more than colors,they’re a symbol of who we are. They represent our resilience, our culture, and our unwavering Jamaican pride.
So when the song says, “If you love Jamaica, let me see your hand,” you already know my hand is up. 🙋🏾🇯🇲

Growing up, I thought it simply meant, “If I’m not dead, don’t call me a ghost.”

Today I realized it’s much deeper than that.

Never allow anyone to bury you while you’re still alive.

Not with their opinions.

Not with their doubt.

Not because you had one bad season.

Not because you had to start over.

As long as you’re breathing, God is still writing your story.

So let them talk.

Let them underestimate you.

Just don’t let them bury you before your purpose has a chance to live.

This is not typical Yard and Foreign advice, but... book the flight. Even when you didn’t budget for it. Even when the bank account is saying “wait, mi Nuh have it’
Sometimes home is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. Your soul doesn’t check your bank statement before it starts longing for the smell of the sea breeze, the sound of your grandmother’s voice, the warmth of the sun on your skin like it’s been waiting on you specifically.
There’s a kind of tired that rest can’t fix. A kind of heaviness that only Jamaica can lift. So if you’ve been carrying the weight of foreign for too long, if your spirit feels stretched thin, if you can’t remember the last time you felt fully like yourself... book the flight.
Let it restore you. Let it reset you. Let it refresh every part of you that foreign has been slowly wearing down.
The Lord is your shepherd. He will provide. Book the flight and go home.

Today America is celebrating its independence. Fireworks. Barbecue. Red white and blue everywhere you turn.
And here I am missing home.
Not because July 4th is a bad day. But because it is a reminder that this is not my independence. This is not my history. This is not my celebration. I am a guest at somebody else’s party and sometimes that feeling hits different.
Back home there is no fireworks outside my window tonight. No national holiday. Just a regular Friday. But somehow that regular Friday in Jamaica feels more like home than any holiday ever will out here.
That is the quiet truth about diaspora life that nobody talks about. You can build a whole life in a new country. A career. A home. A community. And still feel like a stranger on certain days.
Today is one of those days.
So if you are somewhere out here missing the smell of yard, the sound of your neighbor, the taste of something your mother made, the music playing from down the road.
Show your hands. 🇯🇲💔
Because home is not just a place. It is a feeling. And some days that feeling is louder than everything else.

This is not a competition. But it is a conversation worth having.
Jamaican women have carried this culture in ways the world rarely acknowledges. In the kitchen passing down recipes with no written instructions, just memory and love. In the proverbs whispered to children before they understood their weight. In the quiet discipline that shaped generations long before anyone was watching or applauding.
Jamaican men have carried this culture in ways the world cannot ignore. In the music that traveled continents. In the rhythm that became a global language. In the boldness that put a tiny island on the map of every major industry on earth.
One built the foundation. The other built the megaphone.
So the real question is not who carries the culture more. The real question is why one form of carrying gets remembered in history books and global stages, while the other gets remembered only in family kitchens and Sunday dinners.
Both are culture. Both are necessary. But only one gets celebrated publicly.
So I ask again. Who carries the culture more? The one who built it quietly? Or the one who performs it loudly?

Jamaica is not just an island. It is a chosen place. Chosen by nature to be breathtaking. Chosen by history to be resilient. Chosen by culture to lead the world in music, language, movement and spirit.
And if the island is chosen then so are its people.
Every Jamaican walking this earth carries something rare. Something that cannot be manufactured or imitated no matter how hard the world tries. It was placed in us before we were born. In the soil we played on. In the food we ate. In the music we grew up hearing. In the voices that raised us.
People save for years to stand where we simply grew up. They travel thousands of miles to touch what we call ordinary. They pay to experience what we were given for free.
That is not coincidence.
That is chosen. 👑🇯🇲🔥

Tell me why a Jamaican should be unhappy now.
We are the most imitated people on earth. The most influential island in the world. We gave the world speed, music, language and One Love. We built our own banks and called it Pardna. We dress with nothing and look like everything. We dance on Saturday and find God on Sunday. Our culture needs no introduction in any country on any continent.
And people pay thousands of dollars to vacation where we simply call home.
So tell me again.
Why should a Jamaican be unhappy? 🇯🇲🔥 ⚡️
