PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: The person behind the Midtown FB page does not represent Midtown or know much about the details of Midtown affairs. They posted something again last night. These same people have been making misleading and false statements about myself and Midtown to justify their foolish behavior. Alternatively, Midtown is a positive story that defied the odds of being the only Black-owned major club in Austin for over 33 years and 5 years under my leadership. Despite all the recent negative drama, it has been a wonderful place and has made memories for Black folks for years. Nevertheless, this person has nothing better to do than post anonymous, negative, untrue messages like a coward. Surprisingly, the anonymous person talks like they have inside knowledge, which many believe. I get it. However, I do not take people with any seriousness who rely on the local gossip echo chamber to get information, especially if they know me directly. I believe in seeking the facts and truth or should stay out. The local gossip echo chamber is usually incorrect, so why would anyone give it the time or day? Moreover, the anonymous person makes these statements as they know about my real estate profession or what I do. Despite what the anonymous person says, I put 100s of people in their first homes and helped countless commercial businesses get their first commercial buildings in the last 25 years. What has this anonymous person done besides running their mouth? And yes, I know what I am doing and have the credentials to back it up. Have I made mistakes in the past? Of course, I have, and if you have not made mistakes in your life, well, you must be Jesus. I understand that people tend to take sides whenever something goes down. Maybe that person did not get what they wanted in the past, I caught them stealing from the register, I forgot to buy that woman a drink at the bar, or they did not get approved for a real estate loan because the credit was just too freaking bad., so they automatically jumped on the other side's bandwagon. I understand it comes with the territory of the club, restaurant, and any other business. My question is, why don't we as a people take the side of the truth and facts? Just because someone says something does not mean it is true. As a people, let us get more sophisticated in disseminating information and decerning the facts. Understand, I have been involved with Midtown for over 11 years and am the one who is responsible for rebuilding Midtown. Don't you think I should be the one who knows what is going on with Midtown? Nevertheless, many people are good at managing the local gossip echo chamber to get people to think a certain way. Well, I am not good at that foolishness. I am used to straight and direct talk. I will never change that characteristic of myself. The people are afraid because I will respond with facts and make them look and sound stupid. Importantly, anyone who opens a business or multiple businesses is a rock star as far as I am concerned. It is tough to be a minority business in Austin, Texas. Remember, do not let haters discourage you. It is hilarious how some people go this far, but I guess it is part of being in the local public sphere. Unless the anonymous person identifies, I would not pay them any mind. I have someone clearing the websites. I learned nobody cares about the drama. The drama is laughable and short-lived, and it is back to business. Notably, the public wants to know if or when Midtown will open again. PERIOD! While on the subject, we plan to move Smokey Creek to Pflugerville, which is in the works. I got some partners who like the concept, and they are drama-free. We found a location, and we are in the feasibility phase. I will keep everyone posted.
