For all the wonderful Joanne's Gourmet Pizza customers who so beautifully commented about how much we gave to the community for the 32 yrs we graciously did… I’m coming to you humbly to ask for just a small payback🙏🙏❤️❤️

To all of my friends that own businesses and could use a write off…

I’m sending this message out to friends of mine that I know have businesses that they can write things off for…

Many of you know that I volunteer my time at Camp Happy Tails NYC Dog Rescue. Well Regina Mendoza, the incredible woman that founded and runs the rescue is in dire straights!!!! The Rescue is in a really really bad way because of the lack of donations coming in.

There is no Rescue that takes care of dogs the way Regina does!!! Or at least none that I’ve ever seen… and I’ve seen plenty!!!

I figured you need a write off for your business and could find it in your heart to send a nice donation to Regina so she can keep her doors open and keep caring for all these beautiful pups that she cares for she would be eternally grateful!!! I would also be extremely grateful to you as my friends for having the heart to step up for such an amazing and beautiful cause!!!

Camp Happy Tails NYC is a NYS 501c Rescue group that is run entirely on donations! All donations are fully tax deductible! Anything is better than nothing!!!

It is with so many mixed emotions that i write this post….

After 32 years of serving the Roslyn, Manhasset, Port Washington and surrounding communities my brother and I have decided to close Joanne’s Gourmet Pizza. We would so humbly like to thank each and every one of you that were such an integral part of the time stamped success of Joannes!!! We made so many amazing friends over the years… served so many great people… we watched amazing children that ate our pizza grow into wonderful young adults that would later come in with children of their own to feed. That was as special of a feeling and compliment as we ever got!!!
Joanne’s was so good to our own family and we hope that it was as good to yours!!! We took so much pride in feeding all of you and even more pride in donating to all of the local school events over the years. We have the most amazing memories and we hope that you all do as well!!! At the end of the day this is simply a business decision. After so many years we both no longer had the same passion that we had so many years ago as ambitious young men that sought out to change the pizza industry… and change it we did!!! We were the innovators and catalysts of what went on to become a national Gourmet Pizza movement. We truly believe that we were the first pizzeria in the country to make a Buffalo Chicken Pizza 32 years ago!!! (if you know of a place that did it first please be sure to tell me) Now Buffalo Chicken Pizza is seen in the showcases of almost every pizzeria in America and even sold by the nation’s largest pizza companies such as Pizza Hut, Domino’s, Papa John’s and all the other major pizza companies in the United States. Our Honey Dijon Pizza became iconic and Bustah Rhymes even put it in one of his songs… and our original BBQ Chicken Pizza is also seen nationwide now… jeez if we could have just trademarked the names “Buffalo Chicken Pizza” and “BBQ Chicken Pizza” we would be billionaires by now lolol!!! But we honestly didn’t get into the Pizza business for money… we truly loved all of the experiences of dealing with so many great people and seeing our product make so many people smile!!! Pizza and Puppies are what make children smile!!!
As many of you may, or may not know, about 15 years ago we were extremely blessed and fortunate enough to have been given the tremendous opportunity by our former landlord to be able to buy the building that we operated in.. that in itself was a dream come true for us as we always knew that it would one day allow us to control our own destiny. So, like I said, at the end of the day, this is just a business decision and we have decided to finally take control of our destiny’s . It’s simply makes much better sense as businessmen to bring in a national brand type company as a tenant that can pay us for far more in rent than we currently pay ourselves. It’s better for us as we get to spend our well deserved time with our children, and it’s better for the community to bring in fresh new businesses and faces. What makes a great community is often change, so while this has been such a tremendously tough decision for us, we wish you all the best and again want to thank you for 32 amazing years!!!
