As I’m sitting here in the restaurant at 7:30 a.m. enjoying Stevie wonder on the stereo. I can’t help but reflect on how quickly time passes. I was able to have a brief chat last night with some long time customers who chose us to celebrate a 79th birthday. I watched the staff engage with not only the patrons but each other. It makes me very proud of what’s been created here and keeps me excited about “showing up” every day.

I have a couple ideas on the year-end gift certificates that I’ll be posting later this week for input. In the meantime, stop in to enjoy one of the late summer specials..

Orchard Inferno.. Italian sausage, bacon, apples, carmelized onions, fresh jalapeños, green onions, whole milk mozzarella, feta on an olive oil base.

Garden Goddess.. figs, goat cheese, whole milk mozzarella, pickled jalapeños on our house white sauce topped with fresh arugula and a honey drizzle..

It’s kinda crazy how quickly time moves along. And even as we welcome back-to-school, cooler weather and less daylight, some things stay the same..

Old Soul is fast approaching our 10 year anniversary in the downtown location and 2 years in Hucrest and I think we’re doing a great job of maintaining consistency while finding ways to make things better.

I’ll be evaluating our annual gift certificate promotion this week and will be making a second post to hear your thoughts.

As far as specials, this weeks are definitely leaning more towards a fall comfort food vibe.

Mobster.. smoked meatballs, black olives, fresh mozzarella, whole milk mozzarella, feta, Parmesan reggiano on our house vodka sauce topped with fresh basil and an Italian seasoning sprinkle.

Phoenix.. spaghetti squash, black olives, mushrooms, mama lils peppers, whole milk mozzarella, feta on our house red sauce topped with shaved Parmesan and fresh arugula..

It will be hard to top last week as we enjoyed one of busiest weeks of the year at both locations. Thank you again for your support. We’ll keep striving to keep the momentum. Thursday music this week is Mr. Bob Hall with a chance of his talented wife joining in. And the specials are perfect late summer offerings..
Brat Attack.. smoked brats, bacon, sauerkraut, fresh jalapenos, Roma tomatoes, whole milk mozzarella, cheddar on a Boursin white sauce base.
Kaleidoscope.. spinach, artichokes, Roma tomatoes, whole milk mozzarella, goat cheese on an olive oil base topped with fresh basil and a balsamic glaze..

It’s the start of another crazy busy week and we couldn’t be more excited. Progress is being made on the Umpqua Watersheds outback stage and it’s just in time for the annual Umpqua Brewfest, happening Saturday from 1-7 p.m. Start enjoying live music on Thursday with Erik and Cristina Schnautz from 5:30 to close and then an amazing lineup on Saturday. Throw in a couple of tasty specials and everyone should be happy. Check these out..

Olive Odyssey.. beef/lamb kabob meat, red onions, Kalamata olives, red potatoes, feta, whole milk mozzarella on our house red sauce topped with a spicy tzatziki drizzle and shredded lettuce.

Vroom vroom.. pears, carmelized onions, Brie cheese, hazelnuts, whole milk mozzarella on an olive oil base topped with a honey drizzle and fresh arugula.

With the start of school just around the corner and the temps dropping a bit, it’s time to really enjoy the remainder of summer. Our outdoor patio normally has a gentle breeze and the fresh air almost makes the pizza taste even better. Add to that a refreshing beverage and it creates a wonderful dining experience. We have one new creation this week and a fan favorite for our specials. And Bob Hall returns tomorrow at 5:30 to entertain like only he can. Here’s our specials..

Paradise.. smoked turkey, bacon, fresh jalapeños, street corn medley, Roma tomatoes, cheddar cheese, whole milk mozzarella, feta on a Boursin/white sauce.

Way out.. portobellos, hazelnuts, cherry tomatoes, whole milk mozzarella, goat cheese on our house red sauce topped with fresh basil and balsamic glaze.

I thought I had shared this post, but the old soul staff aren’t the only dedicated ones.. Erik and Cristina have performed every other Thursday all summer(with the exception of a short break to perform in the UACT version of Frozen). Huge shout out to these amazing artists. We appreciate you greatly.

Some people might call it crazy, but we just call it dedication. And that’s why we keep the oven a blazin.. So we’ll tick the fridge down to keep the beer colder and try our best to keep the restaurant comfortable. Hopefully the specials are enticing enough to pull you away from the fair or brave the heat and smoke. Let me know what you think?

Fiery Pig & Fig.. prosciutto, bacon, fresh jalapeños, dates, fig/honey goat cheese, whole milk mozzarella on our house red sauce.
