Duck Stamps

In 1935 Congress and President FDR passed The Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp Act. This act (later amended to be known as the Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Act) has several unique functions for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Primarily, these stamps function as a license for waterfowl hunters. Hunters are required to sign the physical stamp upon purchase and carry it on their person to be legally hunting. As a bonus, it also allows for entry into National Wildlife Refuges across the US. While hunters are the most common purchaser of Duck stamps, bird watchers and enthusiasts also enjoy purchasing the stamps.

Duck Stamps are the only conservational stamp sold for revenue. An amazing 98 cents of every dollar goes to the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund. This program’s success has contributed to the conservation of over 6 million acres of wetlands since its inception. An astonishing 40 million dollars a year is collected through this program and put to good use. Funds can be used in many areas and habitats and are used for protecting endangered plants and animals, aiding flood control and maintaining clean and safe ecosystems.

Catskills Coffee Lodge and Duck Stamps

CCL has decided to participate in this program by becoming licensed resellers of Duck Stamp imagery. We selected three different Duck Stamps to share with customers that resonate with the Catskills- and more specifically our view of the Willowemoc Creek. A portion of our sales will go directly to conservation as the program intends. CCL is honored and excited to offer these beautiful pieces of art and history.
