So… why was I at the Black Footwear Forum when I don’t work in footwear? 😂😂😂
Because sometimes the best ideas come from rooms outside your own industry.
The theme was CommUNITY & that spoke directly to where I am right now as President of the Greater Romulus Chamber of Commerce & as I prepare to open Harmon Grounds Café – The Cozy Collective.☕️☕️☕️☕️
I came to learn about community building, branding, leadership & how to create something that lasts beyond the person who started it.
Life happened, I missed a few sessions, but I still made it in the room. 🙌🏾💃🏾🙌🏾💃🏾
My biggest takeaways: Community has to be intentional. Culture has value. Leadership should build something bigger than the leader & brands can’t just sell to people, they have to invest in people. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Then the day closed with colin kaepernick Colin Kaepernick and Jemele J Hill Hill . Their conversation about identity, conviction, history & standing in what you believe hit home too. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I also had a chance to talk with Colin personally. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ As a writer documenting Black lived experiences, I connected deeply with his work around history & civil rights…. I shared the vision for Harmon Grounds & our redefined Phase One. He listened, asked questions & said he’d be sure to visit when he’s back in town one day which made the moment even more special. 💃🏾💃🏾🥰🥰
So no, I didn’t leave wanting to design sneakers. 😂🤣🤣😂
I left thinking about stronger communities, better systems and businesses that actually mean something to the people they serve.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That’s why I was there.

Had the chance to stop by the soft opening of and it was so much more than donuts!❤️🥰
It was community.
It was conversation.
It was neighbors, entrepreneurs, dreamers and people investing in a legacy that’s been part of Detroit for generations.
As someone working toward opening I love seeing historic businesses continue to evolve while staying true to who they are.
Congratulations to and Nhu everyone involved. Wishing you full parking lots, long lines, and lots of happy customers. ❤️

Happy Tuesday!!!

You all have been showing so much love and support by donating and helping us reach our goal! 🥰🥰🥰

Love wins…. but first we gotta get these permits. 🏗️👷🏾‍♀️👷🏽‍♂️👷

I do have some big news to share…. we just cleared a major milestone behind the scenes (you’ll see why soon 👀). Every piece is falling into place and honestly?? I can FEEL these doors opening.

Shoutout to everyone who donated or shared the campaign this weekend… y’all did THAT. 🙌🏾 We’re pairing what we’ve raised with capital we already have and we are close.

Here’s the math: $100 from 100 people and we’re in business. Literally!!!

That’s one tank of gas. One dinner out. One decision that helps build something real for an entire community.

Your name will forever be part of the foundation of something beautiful! A space built on good coffee, good people and the kind of energy that makes you not want to leave.

Progress is happening in real time 💛

Harmon Grounds Café – The Cozy Collective is in the final stretch of opening our doors here in Romulus.

What started as a vision rooted in community, culture, and connection is now a physical space—walls up, bar in place and momentum building daily.

We are currently raising the final funds needed to complete equipment, permits, and opening inventory.

This café is being built as a “community living room”—a space where people feel welcomed, seen, and connected.

Hi Cozy Collective 🤎

I wanted to share a quick update as we continue moving toward opening Harmon Grounds Café.

Over the past week, there has been real progress behind the scenes, and I’m actively working to close the final gap needed to move forward fully.
