TOMORROW 💜 BAYANIHAN NIGHT

Our usual Wednesday night is getting a little extra heart.
Come for Mongolian BBQ, Bingo & Karaoke — and help us rally around the sister of Flor, one of our Lasang Pinoy kitchen family members, as she battles cancer.

Here’s how you can join in:

🎱 BINGO
Your first card is free, as always. Additional cards are $5, with 100% of those proceeds going to Flor’s sister.

🍰 CHEF DESSERT SPECIAL — PAY WHAT YOU WISH
No set price. You decide what you’d like to pay, and 100% of the proceeds go to Flor’s sister.

🎤 FOH vs BOH KARAOKE SHOWDOWN
Pick a team and drop your donation in their bowl.
The team that raises the most gets bragging rights and sings their championship song. The team that raises the least has to sing a song chosen by the winners!

Come eat. Play bingo. Sing some songs. Make Chef Bill sing.

And most importantly, help us show what bayanihan — community coming together to carry the load — looks like.

Tomorrow night at Lasang Pinoy 💜

A little behind the scenes from today’s prep.

Chef Bill is making the Ube Hopia for Kuwento sa Kusina, a supper club. Tonight’s chapter is China, the Middle Kingdom. Hopia is a flaky pastry filled with Ube halaya and served as our final course.

One of my favorite things about these dinners is seeing the story come together before anyone ever takes a seat at the table.

Tonight, we eat. We learn. We tell stories.

Getting ready for the Filipino American Organization of Northwest Arkansas Barrio Fiesta today at 3pm in Downtown Springdale!

We’re serving Chicken Satti with coconut rice wrapped and steamed in banana leaf. And our Pinoy Elote Corn on the cob!

I looked up tonight and saw this…so I ran to get my phone and asked if I could take a picture.

These are my parents hanging out the restaurant and visiting with another veteran.

Everyone has missed Lola since she’s officially retired. Seeing her back here talking with people and just being part of the room again was neat. And Pops, I know he’s proud of what Bill & I are creating.

Sometimes I get so busy running the restaurant that I forget to actually look around and see what we’ve built.

Tonight I looked up and this was a pretty wonderful thing to see. ❤️

A heads-up to our fellow small business owners — and a little perspective for everyone who supports small businesses.

Some dear Rogers business owners have recently experienced a very troubling pattern: Someone comes into a business with a story and asks for a relatively small amount of money — around $20. Out of kindness, the owner helps out….

Then the situation changes.
The person returns asking for more money. When the business owner says no, the threats begin: negative Google reviews, social media posts, contacting family members, making false claims and threatening to publicly drag the owner and the business through the mud unless more money is given.

On the surface, someone might think, “It’s just a bad review. Ignore it.” But for a small business owner, it isn’t that simple.

Our names are attached to our businesses. Our families are attached to our businesses. Our reputations, our employees’ livelihoods and sometimes years of work can be affected by what someone posts online — whether it is true or not.

So when someone tries to weaponize those things in order to frighten a small business owner into giving them more money, it is threatening. It is intimidating. And it is not okay.

I’m sharing this for two reasons.

First, if you own or manage a small business in our community, please be aware that this has happened to more than one business. Call the police, document interactions, save screenshots and messages, and don’t feel pressured into continuing to give someone money because they threaten what they will say about you.

Second, this highlights how Google reviews have created an unusual power imbalance for small businesses. Most owners accept legitimate criticism as part of doing business. Threatening to manufacture criticism unless an owner pays you is something entirely different.

Kindness should never become an invitation for intimidation.

Please look out for one another. ❤️

Wednesday’s Chef special is Bicol Express -—tender pork simmered in rich coconut milk with plenty of chili heat and served with jasmine rice to soak up every last bit of that sauce!

And yes, it really was named after a train, the Bicol Express passenger route connected Manila to the Bicol region, an area of the Philippines, celebrated for cooking boldly with coconut milk and chilies.

Creamy. Savory. Spicy.
The kind of heat that keeps you taking “just one more bite”

Join us on Wednesdays for Mongolian, BBQ, Bingo, open mic Karaoke, plus a different Chef special every week.

We’ve had a few people ask lately if we have a dress code. We don’t.

Come as you are.

We see everything here — work clothes, date-night dresses, shorts, heels, T-shirts, mu-mus, people who planned their whole look and people who decided five minutes ago to come eat.

And honestly? We love that.

Lasang Pinoy is a place for a really good meal, a great drink, a little karaoke, and whatever kind of night you feel like having.

Dress up. Don’t dress up.
And come hungry. 💜
