First of all people, it is the humidity, not the wind that’s an issue…oh, wait, that’s a me thing.
🤷🏼‍♀️
The wind, which can be overwhelming to those who aren’t used to it, is a godsend in the summer months, because we who reside here, know that when the wind stops, the bitey bugs emerge!!
I’ll take the windy and humidity (sigh) over those little b*******s any day!!

Why does it feel like Dagabah outside?
I expect Yoda to walk into the coffee shop at any moment and order a COLD BREW or a CUCUMBER ITALIAN SODA (pictured).

It’s nice and cool in the coffee shop.
And by cool, I mean the AC is set to Arctic blast!
Do NOT hold the door open!! 😉🤪
Crazy, middle aged lady, suffering hot flashes, within!!
One might wonder why, someone who seems to detest summer and humidity so much, would live on an island in the south?
I do not hate summer (not a fan of humidity)….but I like the summer OUTSIDE, where it belongs (along with the sand-hate the sand in the house)!!
Also, I get to work in the ac all season long when we are busy, and then do things I enjoy, outside, in the fall and winter, when Mother Nature isn’t trying to cook me from the inside out!!

Anyway….enough about my crazy, lack of love for most people’s favorite season….

As a child Memorial Day was the end of school. A day for picnics and BBQ. American flags displayed everywhere.
The beginning of 3 months of freedom, and wonderful, WONDERFUL, SUMMER.
As an adult, there is a nostalgia stemming from those memories, paired with the knowledge of its true meaning, which makes the day a little less like a party and more of a commemoration.
