Stole some drums from Mark Pugh and headed to Paris, TX for the 14th Annual Jenny Burton-Rushin Memorial BBQ Cookoff.

They always say ugly chicken wins and yesterday they were right again. Out of all my turn ins, chicken was the one I thought was the worst, and the only one that walked.

Congratulations to Kevin Jackson and Paris Cevrolet on their GC and everyone that heard their name's called.

Heath Riles BBQ was on full display with Texas Firebox BBQ also cooking this event! It was awesome seeing fellow ambassadors and my hometown friends that stopped by.

This is a great event that raises money for the local youth. If you are in the area, buy a plate and enjoy some award winning BBQ, while giving back to your community 💯

This weekend I felt like we got hammered 🤣

It was a tough field of about 60 teams! There were a lot of really great cooks that didn't get a single call. Congratulations to the boys from Oklahoma, Aj George - GC & Brian Coulter - RGC and to everyone that did hear their name called.

We were blessed to make the walk once for a 10th place rib call. To me it was a little disappointing but you can see the pride in Cole's face. In that moment we were the best out of everybody there. Sometimes I forget that it's not always about the trophies and money. Sometimes it's about the memories made and bond that gets stronger through BBQ.

As we pulled out he said, "Dad, when is the next one?"

I won't bore you with turn in box pictures, they weren't what made me smile this weekend.
