Located in historic downtown Rockton, the Dairyhäus was founded in 1983. Our "Greek Revival" style limestone building was built in 1846 and is one of Rockton's oldest buildings. I couldn’t be prouder to announce: Dairyhäus has tied for first place with Bagels & More of Beloit for the Vegan Chef Challenge & won best dessert with our Peanut Butter Oreo Parfait!!! Dairy-Free ice cream maker Ruth pulled out all the stops by researching ingredients, making test batches, surveying customers & team, and crafted the best Dairy-Free Vegan ice cream I’ve ever tasted. Ruth shows dedication, creativity, communication, and drive each and every ice cream created, and the amazing ice creams are evidence of the hard work put in. I am so thankful to Ruth for the amazing effort and I’d love it if you helped me congratulate Ruth on this wonderful award! Congratulations Ruth, well earned!!!

This weekend we are thankful to host Go Rockford’s IRONMAN ironmanamericas, traveling through Downtown Rockton tomorrow morning! Dairyhäus will be open all day, 12-10, and we will be scooping next to our friends 27 ALUNA at Octane/Kabao815, Rad Fuel Co., Disco Chicken, Big Timber Axe Throwing and Bar, Honey’s Lemonade and Kona Ice of Rockford at Athlete’s Village in Rockford! I was excited to see so many Ironpeople visiting the Haus yesterday and today and got to meet Terry, who’s participated in over 70 Ironman events and preparing for the Championship later this year! Thank you to our local community for dealing with the change of traffic patterns: as a small business owner this event is absolutely wonderful for the tourism to our community and I appreciate everyone’s tolerance of the re-routing traffic during the event. Thanks to Rockton Police for your assistance in that regard!!

Did you know that I am the worst at selling merch? If you’ve come to the Haus in the last couple years been denied a shirt, it’s Brent Murray to blame!! The Häus is so small, maintaining quantity of our cool Rockford Art Deli clothing is nearly impossible. Well, Downtown Rockton Truly Treasured Gift n Thrift Inc to the rescue!!! Tonya has gratiously offered to tag-team in her awesome thrift shop for Dairyhäus merch! Arriving on Monday, Tonya offers designs of hoodies, shirts, hats, and sweats. Hot🔥??? Well we’ve got cold covered❄️🥶!!! Banana Cream Pie, Mint Oreo, Honey Lavender, Anderson Japanese Gardens Matcha Green Tea, and more: we’re scooping to keep you cool today! Featured is our Dairyhäus Special—a hot fudge, hot caramel, pecan and sliced banana sundae that has been popular around our Häus since the 90’s! Scoop it today with our Banana Cream Pie, or do it like the inventor Annie (Mom) used to make it with Butter Pecan!

Dairy-Free options are a-plenty with two of our favorite sorbets, Blue Raspberry & Pear, as well as two DF ice creams, Chocolate Oreo and Salted Caramel! They go excellently together (I’ll admit, it was my breakfast this morning🤫😲😂) or individually in our two vegan sundaes, the Lady Bug and the Peanut Butter Oreo Parfait!

Dairyhäus is really hitting its stride as we coast into June and we’re so thankful for your support all over the Stateline! We’ve enjoyed scooping for you at Rockford City Market, Rockton River Market, Pearl Lake, Tuesdays in the Gardens at Andersons, or starting this week RVC Starlight Theatre! While Rockford City Market is new for us in 2026, we are incredibly thankful to be welcomed back to Starlight for another show-stopping season! This weekend starts the spectacle with Wizard of Oz and was so popular we had to deliver a second freezer of ice cream! Thanks for your support everywhere; our shop hours are 12-10 daily!

Whaaaaaaat??? Peanut Butter & Fudge??? Waffle cone, Brownie Sundae, or cup, PB&F is a must have Dairyhaus homemade ice cream and it’s arrived this weekend! A recipe that’s been in our Haus ice cream kitchen since the late 80’s, we swirl a ribbon of fudge and pop plenty of peanut buttery Reeces Pieces into a real peanut butter ice cream. Decadent, dense, and delicious, PB&F joins our menu along with Salty Caramel Cashew, Cherry Almond, Blue Moon, and Rockford Roasting Company Coffee ice creams… but let’s not forget our dairy-free/vegan treats!!! Vegan Chef Challenge is all but wrapped up but we are just getting started!!! New ice creams, new sundaes, all summer long! This week we are featuring our throwback to the 90’s Lady Bug Sundae (can be made with dairy or DF ice creams)! This treat was invented years ago by the OG ice cream lady Annie and is a sweet-tart real raspberry sundae with itty-bitty chocolate chips and chocolate sauce over your choice of ice cream. This week our dairy-free selections are Raspberry, Chocolate, Coffee, and Lemon Sorbet! And don’t worry, by popular demand we are keeping the Peanut Butter Oreo Parfait on the menu all season, available with dairy or dairy-free ice creams!

Our team had a blast at Macktown Forest Preserve earlier in the week shooting our team photo. I’m so thankful to this amazing team and thankful they all woke up early so we could have some fun (and get eaten by mosquitos) during our photo shoot. We will be continuing to hire a few team members staggered throughout the season, feel free to comment below, stop into the shop, or message us for more information. Happy Memorial Day Weekend: the Haus hopes you’re spending the time with friends and loved ones! We’re ecstatic for so many reasons! Cherry Almond, Cookie, Jar, and Cotton Candy are back on the menu with Praline Pecan, Chocolate Cookie Dough, Dairy-Free Cookies & Cream, and so many more!!! We are in summer hours, 12-10 everyday! rocktonrivermarket, rockfordcitymarket AND Anderson Japanese Gardens Music in the Gardens is all here this week! Big thanks to Hallie & Carter for their hard work planting flowers and shoveling mulch as we shape up the Dairyhäus yard for Mothers Day! Teacher Appreciation Week wrapped up this week and our Dairyhäus freezer treated all the teachers in the Roscoe Kinnickinnick School District! We were so happy to give thanks and appreciation to those awesome teachers that take care of our little ones. Thanks to all teachers!! Send us your recommendations for schools & other locations that need a Dhaus treat!

What is Blue Moon??? This popular Midwest ice cream treat is made more mysterious ways than can be imagined, yet for over 40 years, we seem to be the outlier that makes it “our” way. While it’s about as classic as Vanilla for us, we almost changed it this spring to match the “fruit loops” or “vanilla/almond” from other shops. The passion for our traditional Blue Moon won us over and Chris and the ice cream team kept the recipe as we’ve always made it: a very subtle anise/black licorice! A pleasant surprise for many, the boldness of anise is tamed perfectly with our sweet cream, to the point where many taste marshmallow with subtle floral notes. Now dye-free as it’s joined all of our green ice creams in dumping the dye for plant based spirulina! That’s right, Dairyhäus green & most blue ice creams are now ! Open all weekend 12-9! Congratulations, appreciation, and well deserved to Carter!! You know him: Dairyhäus supervisor, delivery driver, customer service extraordinaire, and just a mighty good dude Carter has been honored by Go Rockford as a Hospitality Hero in our community! We wholeheartedly agree! Carter Rocks!

Carter’s positive mindset, thoughtful insight, and rockstar charisma has brought more to the shop than can be imagined. He’s always ready to take on a new challenge and enjoys personal growth and really getting after it when the going gets tough. The efforts he’s had on the Haus and our community have been massive, so thankful to have him leading our team—and this year getting out in the catering world at rocktonrivermarket and rockfordcitymarket. As National Travel and Tourism Week comes to a close, GoRockford is wrapping up our 2026 Hospitality Hero Awards by recognizing one more individual who goes above and beyond to create unforgettable visitor experiences throughout Winnebago County.
