Thank you for all your prayers on the passing of my beautiful grandmother, Irene Enriquez. The service will be Saturday March 23rd at 1 pm at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne. Celebration of Life reception to follow at the Parish Hall.

Irene Navarrete Enriquez went to her heavenly home on March 7, 2024.

Born May 7, 1930, in Colorado City, Texas, daughter of Juan and Estella Navarrete, Irene lived her early life in El Paso, Texas. Irene graduated from El Paso High School in 1947. She met her husband Alberto while on a double date, and shortly after they were married on August 14, 1948. She worked for civil service as a dental assistant at Biggs Air Force Base.

She was the mother to five children Albert, Patsy, Carrie, Jannette, and Debi. In 1966, Alberto and Irene moved to Brevard County, making it their home for 58 years. Irene loved to dance, cook, and watch sports, especially football…her favorite team was The Cowboys. Together they owned and operated the first Mexican Restaurant in Brevard County. Irene brought all of her family recipes and established the iconic restaurant The Alamo Mexican Kitchen, devoting 52 years of her life to that restaurant.

Irene was the true definition of a matriarch; she was a strong woman who loved her family more than anything else. She was happiest when she was surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Juan and Estela; husband Alberto; sons-in-law Bill and Mickey and sister Mary.

Irene is survived by her sister Estela Muñoz; brothers John (Leticia) Navarette, Joe (Kim) Navarette, Ruben Navarette; children Albert (Jennifer) Enriquez, Patsy Lemley (Chuck), Carrie Philpot (Chuck), Jannette Enriquez, Debi Enriquez; grandchildren Trish (Eddie) Edwards, Melissa Philpot, Maria Stoneman, Michael (Kelly) Enriquez, Christina (Monica) Greatorex, Erika Enriquez; great-grandchildren Jake (Jordan), Tristen, Torre, Nicolas, Chloe, Meredith, Jack, Ileighana, Cooper, Madison, Mia, Maddox, Maxwell; and great-great-granddaughter Mariela.

She is also survived by nieces Monika (Terry) Ganey, Tish (Brian) Mende, Ivette Gonzalez, Dina Muñoz; nephews John (Marcella) Navarette, Miguel (Brett) Navarette, James (Alice) Navarette, Matthew Navarette, Ruben Navarette, Achilles Gonzalez and numerous great nieces and nephews.

To all the wonderful people we have had the privelege of serving for the 51 years we were in business:
We feel very Blessed to have been a part of your lives and for the many friendships that were formed throughout the years. We will never forget the love & kindness you showed our family after losing our Beloved Papi.
After several months of looking into different options for reopening, it is with bittersweet emotions that we have decided to close our doors for good. We will always cherish the love, support & prayers from everyone throughout our journey. May God Bless each of you as He has Blessed us with beautiful memories of The Alamo.

Hi there everyone, it's been a while and we just wanted you all to know how much we miss our wonderful customers!! We wish more than you all know that we could have been back up & running but unfortunately the expense was far greater than we could afford so the Alamo will just be a great memory, like our Beloved Papi!
Thank you to the kind & generous folks who donated to the Go Fund Me in an attempt to help our situation. The funds have been in a safe place & if no one minds will be used to pay some debts still owed.
God Bless each & every one of you & thank you for so many wonderful years of friendship & patronage.

Much love always,
The Enriquez family 💞
