This isn't the post we expected to make.
September 19th will be Velvet Robot's final day in our current home.
Due to circumstances with our building, we have to leave the space that Velvet Robot has called home for the past 5 years.
And right now, we don't know exactly what's next.
We don't have another location to announce. We don't have some perfectly polished plan waiting in the wings.
What we do know is this:
We aren't ready for Velvet Robot to be over.
This weird little coffee shop has been through a lot. We've made mistakes. We've changed. We've struggled. But we've also watched friendships start here, kids grow up here, first dates happen here, businesses get dreamed up here, and more ridiculous cold brew drinks get created than probably should have existed.
So September 19th isn't going to be a funeral.
Between now and then, we're going to make the most of every day we have left in this space. We're going to bring back some favorites, make some ridiculous things, tell some stories, and celebrate the people who made Velvet Robot what it is.
After that?
We're going to figure it out.
Maybe Velvet Robot looks different. Maybe it's smaller. Maybe it moves. Maybe it pops up somewhere unexpected.
We just know we're not done yet.
Come see us before September 19th.
Let's give this version of Velvet Robot the ending it deserves.
The building is a chapter. Velvet Robot is the story.
