This was a really complicated project. Our building was built in 1895(ish). The window with glass blocks had the entire window frame removed and each block was cemented in place. The two center small windows were rotten all the way through.
Our son-in-law works for the city of Sioux Falls, and this team was recommended as experts in historic renovation. (Side note, our building was owned and built by people who lived in Sioux Falls, so it seemed fitting). Budget did not allow us to replicate the originals, so our goal was to keep the same window size and make them usable for another 130 years. Mission accomplished.
We cannot thank the team from Sioux Falls Anderson Renewal enough. Wow! In four days, they had all those old windows out, everything reconstructed from the base, and the new windows in place. In two weeks they will come in and replace all the interior trim. Now with every storm, I don’t have to worry about our windows ending up on the sidewalk. Project number one, complete. ✅

As you can tell by this picture, our building was in desperate need of new front windows. All the birds nesting in them are going to have to find a new home. The work is taking place this week.
