It is with a heavy heart, yet with reverence, love, and deep gratitude, that we announce the glorious transition of our beloved matriarch and namesake, Mrs. Jennie Mae Jefferson. 🕊️💜
A proud lifelong resident of South Carolina’s Lowcountry, Mrs. Jennie Mae Jefferson dedicated her life to education, service, and community. A graduate of Morris College, with continued studies at the College of Charleston and South Carolina State University, she began teaching at just seventeen years old and went on to serve an extraordinary 46 years in Berkeley County schools. Her journey included serving as a principal and becoming one of the first educators transferred to a predominantly white school to help enforce integration.
Beyond the classroom, she was a trailblazer and servant leader—a charter member of the Goose Creek Branch NAACP, a community activist who helped secure fair hiring practices for African Americans, and a woman whose impact earned her numerous honors, including being celebrated as a LEGEND—an Educator Extraordinaire.
But what so many will remember most is her heart.
Mrs. Jennie Mae was an exceptional cook who shared her love for people through every meal she prepared. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, fellowship, and joy—where food was always made with love and served with purpose. Through her cooking and acts of service, she nourished both her community and the souls within it.
One of her greatest blessings was witnessing her lifelong dream come to life: a restaurant bearing her name, built on her recipes, her passion, and her deep love for others. We are forever grateful she was able to see that dream realized.

Though she has transitioned from this life, her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every lesson she taught, and every meal made with love.
Rest peacefully, Mrs. Jennie Mae Jefferson. Your love and legacy will forever guide us. 🕊️
