GREAT NEWS: We have hired two new employees for the fountain day shift! While they are training, orders will still be in TO GO BAGS from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM and mugs will be available upon request. We hope to transition back to trays soon! Remember, even with your food in a to go bag, you are still more than welcome to stay here and eat in your car or at a picnic table!

Thank you to everyone that has offered kind suggestions, offered to help us out, and that have applied. To the naysayers, friendly reminder that not all thoughts and comments have to be said or sent. As always, we appreciate your support and your business, let’s finish Season 21 out strong!!🧡🌭

Due to being extremely short-staffed during weekdays, all orders between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM will be in TO GO BAGS and we will not be able to serve mugs during those times. We apologize for the inconvenience, but in order to remain open during lunch hours we have had to make some changes.

We have put out multiple help-wanted ads for the DAYTIME FOUNTAIN openings and have not received any applications - if you or someone you know is looking for a daytime job, PLEASE apply.

You are still more than welcome to stay here and eat in your car and you can get your root beer in a mug anytime after 4:00 PM or all day on Saturdays. Again, we apologize for the sudden change and appreciate your business!🧡🌭

⛈️With the rain, it is at our discretion to make your order to go if we feel it is necessary. You are still more than welcome to stay here in your car and eat (just because it’s to go doesn’t mean we’ll chase you out of the parking lot😉)

PLEASE be kind and courteous and park under the awning or at the menus close to the building IF POSSIBLE!

Friends.....if you would like your root beer or root beer float in a glass mug, please just say that when you are placing your order. We only have ONE size of glass mug so that will save everyone alot of time and questions during the order process.

Once college kids go back and kids go back to school and fall sports begin, we are very short handed, please be patient, please place your order at the walk up window if you plan to eat at a table. Again, please be patient!!

We need help, 1-2 during the day and 1-2 at night. Certainly somebody knows somebody looking for a part time job? Have them apply in person. Again, please be patient!!

Like the Boss Lady referenced in the article: We are one of two B&K’s around that still have a working speaker system, so don’t forget to press the order button on the left to place your order and flip the tray switch on the right to let the carhop know that you’re ready for them to pick your tray up!😁

B&K Drive-In is the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce Member of the Month for July!

Kathie Adams, who owns the restaurant at 1201 E. Ninth St., Rochester, started working at the restaurant in high school when it was an A&W.

She told the chamber the restaurant is “nostalgic, something from the past.” “It has been a business that my girls have been able to work at with me growing up,” she said. “They still come and help out as much as they can.”

Adams told the chamber that the restaurant makes its own root beer and coney sauce. “We are one of only two B&K Drive-Ins that have and still use a speaker system to talk to the cars and take orders,” she said.

Adams mentioned to the chamber that her favorite items on the menu are coney dogs, root beer, the hand-breaded tenderloins and handdipped milkshakes.

She told the chamber she enjoys watching her employees grow up. “Most of the teens I have work here all through high school,” she said. “Some even return and work while in college and home on summer breaks. It is very rewarding to watch
them grow from the shy kid that didn’t know how to count change or take an order to the confident person they become.”

Adams added that it’s “fun to see what path they take for their future careers.” “Then, once they are grown, it is always fun when they come back to visit and stop in to say hello,” she said.
