A week ago today, we had the honor of hosting New York State Governor Kathy Hochul. It was a pleasure to welcome her and the constituents with whom she met to discuss her AI Data Center policies over Carmen's Bread Pudding, tea and soft drinks.

We were touched by the warmth and professionalism exhibited not only by Gov. Hochul but by all of her staff.

There's bad smoke (please be safe outside) and then there's tasty smoke.

Today (as with every Saturday in Summer through September), Carmen is serving up Smoked Pork Country Ribs slathered in her signature Guava-Q sauce and served with a piece of homemade Cornbread. Pair it with any of many options (like our Mac Salad shown in the pic) or our Cassava Root in Garlic EVOO and Arroz con Gandules.

2025 is gone but the memories of special engagements like customer birthdays from 5 to 89, receiving custom birthday cards and especially the heartfelt support for the various personal moments in our lives, will last forever.

When it gets cold where Carmen grew up (trust me, 41 is cold on a tropical island), Mom's turn to Asopao to warm your soul.

Carmen woke to sub-20 temps today so she hit back with a batch of Asopao (Chicken, Rice and flavor). The lunch crowd loved it! She's already making her second batch.

Meet Meghan Underhill and Yuri Choi '25N (PhD) 👋 As nurse scientists, they connected over a shared passion for supporting cancer survivors and their families.

Dr. Underhill advised Dr. Choi as a PhD student, and today, she works next door as a postdoctoral research fellow at Wilmot Cancer Institute.

Their mentor/mentee relationship is shaped not only by their shared research interests, but a love for all things Rochester — including some of their favorite foods, like the empanadillas at Carmen's Cooking in Brighton. 🇵🇷🍽

We hope everyone had a peace-filled Thanksgiving.

If you bought Pasteles (Puerto Rican "tamale") and / or Coquito (Puerto Rican Coconut Nog - no eggs) from us, we hope you enjoyed them fully!
