Located in Rochester, New York - Peels on Wheels grew in July of 2021 with the opening of the "Pizza Garage". Our Piaggio Ape now has a permanent home.

Hey pizza fam, my team and I have missed you greatly and we can’t wait to feed you all 🍕❤️!
The plan was to re-open today 10/7 but unfortunately we won’t be back at it until next week 10/14. There’s a multitude of reasons as to why but the main reason is I just needed another week to collect myself. It’s been all gas and no brakes for me. I went 46 days straight clocking countless hours each day. With no exaggeration I was pushing 100 weeks for about 5 weeks straight. Then I hopped in a van and drove from NY ➡️GA ➡️FL ➡️GA➡️NC➡️GA for contract work. Thats an insane pace for any human. It wasn’t until Tuesday 9/29 when my work bender came to an end, I began to feel 2 days off wasn’t going to be enough time to recover.
As expected when 10/2 arrived I could not pull myself to drive 1,000 miles back to NY and begin prepping to reopen the pizzeria. I am not looking for sympathy by any means, just want to provide transparency. The extra week off is necessary for me to run my shop at 100% when I return. Living in two states ain’t easy but I’m doing everything I can to figure this s**t out. Whether they are planned or last minute closures I understand that the volume of closures may be frustrating for customers, but this is the only way I can make operating possible. I appreciate all of you and can’t wait to see you all again next week🙏

ICYMI an article about where to find some of the best pizzerias in America came out in USA Today a few weeks ago. We were mentioned in that list as being one of the best pizzerias. The love and support from the community over the past month has been overwhelming in the best way. I am so grateful for being able to feed this community and am so lucky to have a space to teach a craft to the people who choose to work here. The recognition feels great knowing how hard we work. Full transparency though about a year ago I began to notice a drastic shift in the business. Things were not moving in a desirable direction at an alarming rate. Month to month, then quarter to quarter my little 1,500 sq ft pizzeria was struggling to make ends meet. I didn’t know why nor could I comprehend how I ended up there. I began questioning everything I worked so fu***ng hard for as it was at a tipping point. Some of the hardest decisions were ahead. I reached out to fellow business owners and some owners were experiencing some challenges while others weren’t. I felt lost, I felt scared, I wanted to quit because I didn’t want to face the harsh realty that the shop very well might not make it. I eventually took a break to get my head right. Around that time I vividly remember a conversation I had with my cousin and her husband who are also local business owners. I expressed my pain, my struggles and how lost I felt. Their advice was it will pass as long as you keep your head up, keep working and pushing forward. I took their advice and a lot has changed in a year. I have learned a few things in the past year. The first is that there are variables that are outside of your control that impact your life and business. Second is that nothing is ever fu***ng guaranteed. Third is that complacency can be detrimental to a person a business. The last thing I learned is to just be grateful for what you got. I lost sight of a lot during survival mode. I realize that the pace I have been working at isn’t sustainable or healthy. With all of that being said my team and I need some time off. We are going to close 9/20-10/6. Hope to serve you this week if not, we will see you when we’re back on 10/7❤️🍕

WHAT A WEEK TO SAY THE LEAST! THANKS FOR ALL THE LOVE AND SUPPORT THIS WEEK FROM NEAR AND FAR. ITS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST HEART WARMING WEEKS I HAVE HAD TO DATE. TBH THE EMOTIONS WERE ALL OVER THE PLACE THIS WEEK. I HAD THIS GRAND IDEA TO THROW SOME SORT OF PARTY TODAY AT THE PIZZERIA BUT UNFORTUNATELY I COULD NOT DEDICATE A SINGLE MINUTE TO MAKING IT COME TO FRUITION. I WANTED THE HOMIES FROM MIKE'S HOT HONEY TO PULL UP, A DJ SET UP AT THE SHOP PLAYING ALL THE Benito Antonio AND champagnepapi , A TENT SET UP OUTSIDE WITH US SLINGING PIES INSIDE AND OUT, I WANTED Spotted Duck SERVING SCOOPS OUT FRONT, A MOBLE BAR SERVING MIX DRINKS ON SITE, I WANTED TO SERVE FREE SNACKS, I WANTED TO RAFFLE OFF SOME FREE GIFTS BUT UNFORTUNATELY SOMETHING LIKE THAT WOULD TAKE SOME ACTUAL PLANNING SO MAYBE IN THE COMING WEEKS ILL GET SOMETHING LIKE THAT POPPIN OFF AT 1157 CULVER. PERHAPS FOR MY 35TH BIRTHDAY NEXT MONTH 🤷‍♂️ ?
ANYHOW I WILL SAY THE WORLD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS AND SOMEHOW SOME WAY Spotted Duck SHOWED UP WITH A GIANT TUB OF ICE CREAM BY SOME WEIRD CHANCE SO I GUESS THATS A SIGN I NEED TO DO SOMETHING. THIS MEANS I CAN AT LEAST OFFER SOME FREE SCOOPS OF ICE CREAM AND I GUESS AMAZON ALEXA CAN BE THE DJ TODAY AND I HAVE SOME MODELOS HERE TOO BUT THOSE ARE FOR ME AND MY STAFF AND WE CAN ALSO OFFER SOME FREE BITES TODAY TOO, I WAS THINKING GIVING SOME FREE CHICKEN SANDWICHES AND SOME FREE SLICES OF PIZZA TOO. NOT SURE WHAT TODAY WILL LOOK LIKE BUT IF YOUR AROUND PULL UP, I AT LEAST KNOW THE MUSIC WILL BE LOUD AND THE VIBES WILL BE HIGH 🙌
