Manager-in-Training / Assistant Manager

Buster’s Southern Pit BBQ is looking for an experienced, hands-on restaurant professional who wants more than just another job. This is a transition position created to identify and mentor the right person into a future salaried General Manager role as the restaurant continues to grow.

This is a working management position. Our managers lead from the front, work alongside the crew, solve problems, maintain high standards, and help create an environment where people work hard, support one another, and enjoy what they do.

The right candidate must be confident and highly capable in a fast-paced kitchen while also being warm, professional, and genuinely hospitable with our guests. We need someone who can command a kitchen during a rush and then walk into the dining room with a smile.

Responsibilities
Lead and motivate employees by example
Work kitchen, service, and catering operations as needed
Maintain food quality, cleanliness, safety, and customer-service standards
Help train, coach, and develop team members
Handle guest concerns calmly and professionally
Support scheduling, opening, closing, inventory, and daily operations
Help improve efficiency, teamwork, sales, and profitability

Restaurant management and strong kitchen experience are essential. Catering experience is a plus.

The position may begin at approximately 20–36 hours per week, depending on experience, catering volume, training progress, and business needs. Starting pay will be competitive and based on experience. Hours, compensation, and responsibility can increase as the successful candidate demonstrates leadership, reliability, and the ability to strengthen the business.

We believe the right employee helps create enough value to pay for their own growth. We are looking for that person: experienced, dependable, hardworking, eager to lead, willing to learn our way of doing things, and able to have some fun while getting the job done.

🇺🇸 Last week was all about celebrating Benjamin’s graduation from Army Basic Training.

As we’ve looked through the official platoon photos, what stands out isn’t any one soldier, but an entire team of young men and women who committed themselves to something larger than themselves and earned the right to stand together on that field.

Benjamin had the privilege of serving as his platoon’s guidon bearer, carrying the unit’s flag during the ceremony. The guidon represents the identity, history, and spirit of the platoon, and we were proud to see him entrusted with that responsibility.

More than anything, these photos remind us of the discipline, teamwork, and dedication that military service helps instill in so many young Americans.

Many of you have watched Benjamin grow up around Buster’s over the years. We are grateful for the encouragement, prayers, and support our family has received throughout this journey.

We would also like to thank the classmates, teachers, mentors, friends, and members of our community who have stopped by the restaurant since our first graduation post to share their congratulations and support. Your kindness has meant more to our family than you know.

We have enjoyed hearing your stories, sharing memories, and being reminded of how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive community.

We especially appreciated the recent visit from Theo Theodoro, Benjamin’s Naval JROTC instructor, who stopped by to express his pride in Benjamin’s accomplishment. It was a meaningful reminder of the positive influence that dedicated educators, mentors, and veterans have on our young people. We also enjoyed visiting with his wife, Mitzi, and appreciate the support they have shown Benjamin throughout his journey.

Congratulations to all of the soldiers who graduated alongside him, and thank you to the families who stood behind them every step of the way.
