At Oak St Cafe, supporting our law enforcement officers and first responders isn’t just something we talk about—it’s part of who we are.

Right now, Roanoke Police Corporal Kevin Buchanan and his family need our community behind them. Corporal Buchanan remains in critical condition following a serious line-of-duty accident, and his family has a long road ahead.

On Wednesday, September 30, our community will come together at Roanoke Live for a special benefit concert for Kevin and his family.

May God place His healing hands upon this officer, give strength to his family, and comfort the entire Roanoke Police Department. 🙏💙

In the early morning hours of September 20, 2026, an officer with the Roanoke Police Department was involved in a serious motor vehicle collision.

Officers were conducting traffic enforcement along SH 114 in response to numerous complaints involving motorcycles traveling at high speeds in the area while attending an event at Texas Motor Speedway.

The officer, who was operating a police motorcycle, attempted to stop a motorcycle when the rider fled from the officer. During the incident, both the officer and the fleeing motorcyclist were involved in a collision with another vehicle on SH 114, just west of I-35W.

The officer was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.

The suspect is in custody and is also being treated at a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

At this time, we do not have any additional information regarding the collision or the officer’s condition. We ask that you keep our officer, his family, and the entire Roanoke Police Department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, all of us at Oak St. Cafe pause to remember the 2,977 lives lost, honor the brave first responders who ran toward danger, and recognize the countless heroes whose courage and sacrifice defined that day.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the bravery. We honor the sacrifice. We stand united as Americans.

May God bless the families of the fallen, our first responders, our military, and the United States of America. 🇺🇸
