Some people are more than just part of a restaurant’s history. They ARE the history. ❤️
Today, we want to recognize a very special lady, Elvia, one of the original chefs who helped build the foundation of Zacatecas Cafe back in the 1960s.
Elvia was there in the early days, working alongside our founders, Oscar and Josefina Medina, helping prepare the family recipes that would become a Riverside tradition for generations.
Pictured here with Elvia is John Medina, second-generation owner, who started working in the kitchen at just 10 years old. Back then, John was learning more than just how to cook. He was learning the family recipes, the hard work, the hustle, and the dedication it takes to run a family restaurant. And right there alongside him was Elvia, one of the very people who helped teach him the trade. ❤️
Recently, Elvia stopped by Zacatecas Cafe, and what a blessing it was to sit, talk, laugh, and reminisce about those good old days.
The memories, the friendships, the long hours in the kitchen, and the love that went into every plate.
Over 60 years later, we’re still here. Still cooking. Still serving Riverside. Still carrying on the traditions that started back in 1963. 🇲🇽
And none of that would be possible without people like Elvia, who poured their hearts into this little family restaurant and helped make it what it is today.
Elvia, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU. ❤️ Thank you for your hard work, your friendship, your beautiful memories, and for being such an important part of the Zacatecas Cafe family.
And to our Riverside community, thank YOU for keeping this family legacy alive for over six decades. Generations of families, familiar faces, and countless memories. That’s what Zacatecas Cafe has always been about.
