Some Facts About Our Coffee ☕️
Many of you know that our Cold-Brew Iced Coffee journey began back in 2019 when we first opened the That Donut Place food trailer. At the time, we were one of the very few places in Ripley serving iced coffee — and, to our knowledge, the only one offering true small-batch cold brew.
Before long, we became known for our iced coffee just as much as our donuts.
Over the years, we’ve served thousands upon thousands of cups, and it still amazes us that something that began as a small experiment in our home kitchen grew into such an incredible success. Even then, we always carried the idea in the back of our minds that someday we wanted to create a coffee roast of our very own.
As the new shop began taking shape earlier this year, we finally started pursuing that dream in earnest.
Our first challenge was finding a roaster willing to invest the time, effort, and patience to help bring our vision to life. We didn’t come with technical coffee knowledge or specific roast profiles — only an idea of how we wanted our coffee to taste and feel. We knew the experience we wanted to create, but we didn’t even know if it was possible to achieve.
Fortunately, we found a local West Virginia roaster whom we’ve come to know simply as a true master of the craft. 🤍
After months of roasting, blending, testing, adjusting, and tasting, we finally arrived at something we can honestly describe as the best coffee we’ve ever had. 🤩
And we say that with perspective. We travel often and make a point to visit local coffee shops everywhere we go — from Maine to Florida, Montana to Wyoming, Idaho to Hawaii, and many places in between. We’ve tasted a lot of coffee over the years.
This isn’t about boasting on ourselves. In fact, we give the credit to our roaster, because this is the very first coffee we’ve ever felt confident enough to put our name on.
That’s why we created our own house blend brand:
Mountain Rise© 🏔️
If you’ve visited our new shop and tried one of our iced coffees or espresso drinks, then you already know what we mean. Mountain Rise© is now used exclusively in all of our espresso and cold-brew beverages.
It’s difficult to fully describe because every time we taste it, we discover a new characteristic we love — smooth, rich, comforting, bold, balanced. So maybe the simplest way to say it is this:
Mountain Rise© is the best coffee we know.
Whether you’re a true coffee connoisseur or simply someone who enjoys a comforting cup of coffee — hot or iced — we invite you to stop by and try it for yourself. We’d love to hear your thoughts and discover the words you use to describe it.
