Hi Everyone! FYI, we are closed for some reorganizing. As we look for another location in Rifle, we will also be relocating to a second shop in Glenwood Springs (Tentatively, we are going into where the old Taipei Tokyo Restaurant use to be on Grand Ave). The plan is to get into a bit more space (in Rifle) where we can have alongside Polanka's pickup counter, a section of the store where a small farm/ranch/world market, and a fresh bread/pastry bakery can run. (These endeavors will likely be a co-op with a few other small business entrepreneurs.) I know there are several places available that are near downtown Rifle and we will be looking at those soon. Meanwhile, the old Rifle Polanka spot will be reorganized into another new restaurant appropriate for that tiny cute place. TBA.
Though this is a very difficult time to open new businesses, we believe there is a need to continue to serve the community. It is not only about serving food but it is also about providing jobs, keeping city economies going (sales tax dollars!), and small businesses present in downtown. Yes, extra safety measures will cost more time and money, we might be shut down again in the future, there are a lot of unknownsâŚ
But we believe if small business owners can stay positive, prudent and also be open to being creative about pivoting into a new way of doing business, joining forces with other entrepreneurs, and/or support one another with help or great ideas, our small towns will not turn into ghost towns.
Finally, be assured that we are also working hard on designing the new businesses to keep customers and employees safe. We are working as fast as possible to reopen. The timeline is dependent on many aspects which include gaining health department licenses, building licenses, remodeling contractors, etc. Even knowing that many of our government offices and construction companies are running thin, we are hopeful we will be open sooner than later.
My family has been small business owners throughout the Rocky Mountains for 30 years. I think many new entrepreneurs donât know how to survive here. You have to love living here. You have to play the long game. You canât be lazy or greedy. You have to be realistic in saving for times like these. You have to stay as generous as you possibly can when it gets tough. I hope once we reopen, you will all support us again.
