Town of Ridgeway Receives Official Statement from Comcast Regarding Internet Service Outage

RIDGEWAY, Va. — The Town of Ridgeway has received an official response from Comcast regarding the internet service outage that affected customers yesterday.

Following the Town’s social media notification to residents about the outage and the many comments submitted by citizens describing the impact on their homes and businesses, Mayor Craig O’Der Jr. was contacted today by Comcast’s Regional Government Affairs Representative. The representative advised that Comcast became aware of the concerns expressed by Ridgeway residents and provided the following official statement:

Comcast Statement:
“Earlier today, our fiber was accidentally cut by a third-party construction crew, causing service disruptions for some customers. Our crews are on-site and working to make repairs as quickly and safely as possible.”

The Town of Ridgeway extends its sincere appreciation to all of our citizens who took the time to share their experiences and concerns through the Town’s social media posts. Your comments helped demonstrate the widespread impact of the outage on our community, and I believe they played an important role in prompting Comcast to reach out directly to the Town.

Mayor O’Der also inquired whether Comcast customers affected by the outage would be eligible to receive a credit on their monthly bill and, if so, what process customers would need to follow to request that credit.

The Town is awaiting Comcast’s response to those questions and will share that information with the public as soon as it is received.

The Town of Ridgeway remains committed to advocating on behalf of our residents and ensuring that our citizens receive timely information regarding issues that affect our community.
