Behind every strong business is someone helping hold the vision together - and at Shug’s, that person is Roxanne. ❤️

Roxanne works alongside Chef Noah to help keep Shug’s moving forward, supporting the day-to-day while sharing the bigger vision of growth, good food, and creating an experience people want to come back to.

She keeps Chef Noah grounded, supports his goals, and helps turn ideas into action. From the things customers see to the countless details happening behind the scenes, her role matters more than most people probably realize.

So today, we’re giving a little extra appreciation to Roxanne for everything she brings to Shug’s... the support, the consistency, the teamwork, and the heart. 💛

A Summerville, South Carolina native, Chef Noah began his culinary career under the leadership of Mark Detich at Oscar’s Place - a relationship that grew beyond the kitchen, and the two remain friends today.

In 2000, Noah attended Johnson & Wales University, pursuing his passion for the culinary world while also navigating life as a single parent. The road was not easy, and although he did not finish school, he never walked away from hospitality. He continued building his experience with Apple South and kept moving forward.
Then in 2006, he took a major leap and opened his first restaurant, Shug’s Southern Soul Cafe, in Ridgeville. From there, his journey led him to St. George and eventually back home to Summerville... where Shug’s continues to be rooted in good food, good people, and community.

Chef Noah’s path is a reminder that success does not always look like a straight line. Sometimes the dream changes shape. Sometimes the road gets hard. Sometimes you have to keep going even when the original plan does not work out exactly the way you imagined. But the dream can still be worth chasing.

As Chef Noah says:
“All things are possible for those who believe in the impossible. DO NOT STOP DREAMING!”
And that message is woven into everything Shug’s represents. 💛🍽️
