SAY NO TO ‘DAF’ PROCESSING IN CAROLINE CO.!!!
CAROLINE COUNTY RESIDENTS – a MUST READ
The Holding Company that purchased the Hanover property on Peaviner Road plans to start DAF processing in various ravines located on the property. They also have property on River Road, outside of town, where they have already started processing this sludge.
DAF is the sludge created from the waste produced by animal waste and byproducts – those not even fit for use in pet foods. They plan to truck in these products from many surrounding states, not just Maryland, and process it in our backyards.
The smell from the sludge is the most noxious stench you’ll ever smell and carries for MILES so we’re all subjected to this. The smell is so bad that you can’t even be outside to enjoy your own property, much less our wonderful town and businesses!
If the pits are open (which they currently are), they are huge attractors for flies, mosquitoes and other flying insects that will carry the matter with them and potentially infect humans. Also, there’s the real risk of contamination to our drinking water, our wildlife, nature and tourism – like Tuckahoe State Park – less than 2 miles from the Peaviner Rd location.
And think about what this will do to our property values!!!
The County Commissioner’s have placed a moratorium on the processing while they weigh the implications and get feedback from the Community.
PLEASE plan to attend the County Commissioner’s public hearing on Tuesday, January 23, at 6:00 pm in the Health Building, 403 S 7th Street, Denton, to voice your concerns.
PASS THIS INFO ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS so we show a united front!
