Nicholas County Team Captures Victory at Gainer Memorial Golf Tournament

Richwood, W.Va. — A team of four golfers from Nicholas County claimed first-place honors at the annual Gainer Memorial Golf Tournament held at Cherry Hill Golf Course in Richwood.

The winning team consisted of James Louden and Mike Hanna in the front row, with Bob Butcher and Jimmy Farley in the back row. This year, Farley played free as part of the tournament event.

The foursome's victory came as no surprise to those familiar with their dedication to the game. The golfers regularly practice together each day, meeting at approximately 10:00 a.m. to sharpen their skills and enjoy friendly competition.

Their commitment to practice and teamwork has helped establish them as some of the most respected golfers in Nicholas County. Through years of experience on the course and countless hours spent improving their game, the team has earned a reputation for excellence among local golfers.

The Gainer Memorial Golf Tournament brings golfers from across the region together while raising scholarship funds for Richwood High School students pursuing higher education. This year's tournament once again combined competition, community spirit, and support for local students.

For Louden, Hanna, Butcher, and Farley, their hard work paid off with a tournament championship and the satisfaction of supporting a worthwhile cause while doing what they enjoy most—playing golf….story photo by Steve Flynn
