So happy to see them get the recognition they richly deserve.
Hey folks! Just a reminder that if you are joining us this weekend, it is also the St. Benedicts Oktoberfest. The street will be closed in front of the restaurant. We suggest a ride share service, which can drop you off at the corner of Belmont and Hanover, just a few doors down. There is limited parking in our lot which can only be reached from Sheppard St.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Our phenomenal bartender, Galen, has also created a stellar lineup of cocktails. If wine is more your speed, not to fear, our Wine Director Emily will have the perfect recommendation. In the spirit of the season of love- we’d like to take this time to profess our love for our most recent addition to the family, Galen. You may have seen her behind beloved Richmond bars over the last 15 years. When she’s not crafting cocktails and cracking us up- Galen stays workin in her garden with her dogs and drinkin whiskey by the fire.
This cocktail is sunshine in a glass. Named after our sweet neighbor Arthur Chadwick (ps Valentine’s Day orchids? Perfect gift.) Virago Rum, pineapple, muddled sage, lime, and a fresh orchid.

With beaming pride, we present Executive Chef of The Stables on Belmont: Brycen Woodley.
Born and raised in small town Iowa; Chef Woodley grew up with the culinary traditions of the Midwest; including hunting and fishing along with the inclination towards seasonal, local and traditional. These would soon meld with many similar but new experiences gathered from summers and holidays with close family in North Carolina and Virginia. There he would begin his journey with southern fare and a penchant for hospitality. Eventually he was drawn into professional cooking where he has made his way for the last 17 years.
Chef Woodley moved from Iowa to Virginia full time in 2007, working his way through restaurants in Virginia Beach and Richmond while attending college. Before long he found his way to the Jefferson Hotel where he spent 8 years, moving from TJ’s Restaurant to the banquet kitchen and finally to Lemaire. There he was able to delve ever further into the depths of the Southern cannon while working on perfecting technique and style. In time he would grow into a management position as Sous Chef and eventually Chef de Cuisine under Executive Chef Patrick Willis.
In October Chef Woodley made the jump from The Jefferson and took on the role of Executive Chef at The Stables to explore a broader palate and spread his wings. He brings a wealth of Southern fine dining experience garnered from Lemaire along with his Iowa roots.
The Stables at Belmont is an upscale neighborhood restaurant, located in the Museum District. We are seeking an experienced bartender/mixologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of bartending experience, a vast knowledge of fine spirits and experience creating craft cocktails. You should enjoy working in a close-knit environment. Bartending at The Stables is a unique experience; the bar is the showcase of our restaurant and the beverage program is important part of the restaurant’s concept. We are looking for a devoted, knowledgeable person to maintain our strong reputation while growing the program. The bartender will be responsible for writing their own cocktail recipes, monthly liquor inventory, and weekly ordering. Other responsibilities are standard for front of house staff: excellent customer service, menu knowledge, maintaining a clean and orderly station. The restaurant is open for dinner, Tuesday through Saturday, from 4:30 to 10 pm. Please send your resume and a brief note about your favorite drink to make.
A Holiday Cheers from the Stables! We’re all decorated for the season and can’t wait to have you join our festivities!
Stay cute, get fed. Once you’re family here, you’re family forever.
Ever wonder how we got our name? …Back in the day, this building used to be a carriage house for the city’s horses. So naturally we had to keep the history! But the real question is, which came first Belmont Ave or the city stables? 🐎
Our Lobster & Crab Gnocchi, a fan favorite. Delicious and light. Come and taste it for yourself before we switch it up for fall.
In honor of the great Charlie Watts, we dub this creation Can’t You Hear Me Knocking! An homage to a timeless groove and the approaching Fall we are greatly anticipating. Complete with Benchmark Bourbon, Yellow Chartreuse, Sour Orange (yes, we love sour orange), Disaronno, and D’Anjou pear bitters. A little grated nutmeg sets it off like that perfectly timed snap of a snare hit. 🍊
We’ve got a new one! Deemed the Fuzz Punch, it’s a balanced proportion of brandy, Barbancourt Reserve Speciale, sour orange, Ricard Pastis, peach bitters, and a pineapple mint gum syrup.
After these past few days of clouds and rain, I think we could all use a bit of a fog chaser, and I can’t think of a better candidate than our Earl Grey Japanese Highball. The simple and ritualistic construction of Suntory Toki and house Earl Grey tonic is truly a thing to behold. Cut through this humidity with happy hour til 6 at the bar.

Feelin’ like we’re in New Orleans with this humidity, might as well act like it too! 💚💛💜
“All mixologists are bartenders, but not all bartenders are mixologists.” But Jeremy is not just a mixologist, he’s our Alchemist! The creator of all cocktails. The brains behind the booze. Not only that, but a great person to talk to. Stop in and grab a seat at the bar and he’ll be sure to whip you up something delish. 🍸🥃
Cozy ambiance, heavenly dishes and caring hospitality...you’ll feel right at home. 💫
A salad that’s as refreshing as it looks. Pop in and try our Street Corn Salad along with one of our cocktails. Dinner starts at 4:30pm and walks in are always welcome if the space allows.☀️

I'll let our customers speak for themselves
We said good bye to an old war horse yesterday; who cooked thousands of meals, celebrating countless Birthdays, Anniversaries, Graduations, and just plain old good times. It owes us nothing, having given its all. And we welcomed an eager young c**t, ready to burst out of the gate, and show you just what he can do!
BARRRRRRRRR. How we’ve missed you. 😭 😭
For those who have forgotten, this is what is known as a « bar ». We have been told we can now have some of you sit at it again. If I remember correctly, you can eat and drink at it. So I hope you will.
To-go food has really helped keep restaurants afloat. But if « I’ve had it with to-go » was a photo... well ta da. Chef butterfingers really made it rain. 😂
