Meet Micah Head! They were born in Houston and graduated from William & Mary. They are a jack of all trades here at Rootstock. You can find them prepping, washing dishes, and smiling brightly as they serve you at the register. They have worked at Rootstock for 2.5 years but have helped us out at Historical Restaurant Concepts for 5 years! Their favorite foods at Rootstock are the Vegan Scrapple and the Vegan Peppercorn and Chive Biscuits.
They do improv with their group, Gossip Badge, at the Coalition Theater. They played keyboard and flute for the local band, Minor Poet. They love going to the river, grilling with friends, biking, and playing basketball. Now they spend their time updating people about what is going in in the community. They try to get out and support the Black Lives Matter movement in any way they can. They want to make sure they spend some of their free time to learn about what it takes to have a community where everyone feels safe and free.
They work in the community and are associated with housing justice and other various aspects of equality and justice. They work to provide information, court support, and childcare for people facing eviction before, during, or after their court dates. When it comes to the childcare aspect, they are working with other organizers to try and get a group off the ground called “River City Direct Action Daycare”. The group is just getting started, but its purpose is to provide childcare for those who are attending court, volunteering, or protesting around Richmond.
Some other organizations Micah supports are Leaders of the New South, Southerners on New Ground, Justice and Reformation, Richmond Tenants Union, Richmond Strike, and Richmond for All. We recommend you take a look at these organizations to learn more!
