Some big announcements from The Camel!
1.
The Camel is proud to announce that we are the recipients of Green Restaurant of the Year award! Two years ago we launched a recycling program reducing our landfill waste by 78%!
Here's how we got there:
1. we take all of our bottles, cans, plastic containers, cartons, paper and cardboard directly to the recycling center (this is why you don't see many trashcans around the venue!)
2. all of our show flyers go to either Plan 9 for fans to sn**ch up for free or Scrap RVA to be repurposed
3. we've moved entirely to compostable togo containers and away from Styrofoam
4. composting some of our kitchen waste
5. all printer cartridges go to Staples to be recycled
2.
Keeping this momentum going, we’re excited to announce our next green initiative! Starting May 3rd, we'll be teaming up with Studio Two Three to launch our monthly Gear Swap and Recycling Meetup! Come by The Camel every 1st Sunday of the month from 3 - 5pm with your old, broken or unwanted gear and trade with others or donate directly to Studio Two Three! Anything broken or unwanted will be recycled by The Camel! Studio Two Three is always looking for microphones, cords, PA/speakers, stage lights and more! Some good examples of what can be recycled are old mic, keyboard, amp or music stands, broken drum hardware and cymbals, electronics like pedals, PCBs, keyboards or cables. You can even recycle your old guitar strings! Remember, this is a swap and recycling program! If it's not recyclable, tradeable or donatable, we won't take it.
