With our community fridge coming soon, we’ll be able to offer food, hot coffee, and iced coffee, but needs go beyond a meal or a drink.

A working laptop or tablet can mean access to job applications, housing resources, school, benefits, email and more.

We’ve helped people with devices before, and we were asked this morning to help again.

If you have an older laptop or tablet sitting unused, please consider donating it through The Milena Chapter, Abi’s nonprofit vehicle. Your donation is tax-deductible but more importantly, it will help someone in need.

A big "Thank You!" to the Vice-Chair of the Richmond City Democratic Committee, a licensed electrician who came out and donated his talents so that RVA Community Fridges has another location at Abi's.

At the risk of dating myself, one of the more memorable things my childhood self remembers Mr. Rogers saying was to, "Look for the helpers". He always had a way of saying so much in small words, acts of kindness and reminders worth emulating.

Happy 4th! We're Open!

I grew up in a family with a history of service. My grandfather served on a Navy minesweeper. My father served in the Air Force.

While the 4th of July is a celebration of freedom, it is not something we claim once and keep without tending. It also isn't something we can maintain by stepping on others.

Freedom should enable kindness, something that grows as we share it. The little kid in the picture is me; a July 4th concert with a lesson. If you want the story behind it, stop by and I'll share. I open ever morning at 5am and I'm here all day today. --Keith
