One week from today! We'll be closed Thursday & Friday November 25-26th so we can enjoy Thanksgiving with our loved ones, but Saturday November 27th we'll be bringing you a special night celebrating The Burger in many glorious forms! Chef @Julieheins has come up with a fun menu that is family-friendly and turkey-free. Reservations are online for dine-in service, and we'll have wine pairings available as well. Please note: we will not be offering our regular food menu this one night, but our full wine and beer and cocktail lists will be available. See you soon!

It's Fall, y'all, which apparently means it's a gorgeous 75 degrees on the patio (rez still available but going fast). What was that Postal Service lyric? "We can swim anytime in November?" Anyway is #BooJuice season! This week's #secretstash is a fabulous Cru Beaujolais, perfect for this mercurial weather: Domaine de la Chapelle des Bois 2019 Fleurie Cuvée Vieille Vigne de la Cadole. This wine is made from a single parcel of 80 year old Gamay from Beaujolais, France aged for 12 months in large foudres. It is everything you want in a red wine--subtle fruit, earth, complexity, herbal notes, elegance, and a killer finish. Imported by Neal Rosenthal. $15/60 while it lasts.

New #secretstash on the board tonight, the perfect white for November nights on the patio (I can't believe we still have rez available when it's 75 degrees!?). This is a new wine for us from Valencia by way of De Maison @dmselections -- a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and an indigenous grape of NW Spain called Merseguera. Notes from the importer: "La Comarcal is a small project by two good friends who also happen to be two of Spain’s brightest rising-star winemakers: Javi Revert and Victor Marqués. Located in the village of Venta del Moro in the Valencia D.O., La Comarcal (“The District”) is a young winery founded in 2017 with the inspiration to make delicious, youthful wines— new expressions based on the old mountain vineyards of native Valencian grape varieties. They farm with certified organic viticulture, exclusively use native yeasts, and employ only judicious use of sulfur. La Comarcal was built on the friendship formed by Javi and Victor while working together at the influential Valencian winery Celler del Roure for over ten years. They represent the new generation from Valencia focused on regenerative farming and exceptional quality while retaining the approachability and relaxed attitude of their laid-back Mediterranean region." Organic, native yeast, vegan. $12/46 while it lasts.

This crazy weather has us wanting to drink crazy wine. Our new #secretstash fits the bill! The @weingutbrand_ "Pet Nat" Rose is made from 90% Pinot Noir in Pfalz, Germany (organic and biodynamic). It's naturally sparkling (a delicate frizzante) from one long, continuous fermentation--also known as ancestral method--that has been around since the 16th century. This cheerful and slightly funky wine is bone dry, racy, and citrusy with notes of sour cherries, pomegranate, and earth. A perfect accompaniment for our fried chick peas! $15/60 while it lasts!

New goat on our Virginia Cheese Board! Please welcome "Florent Cendre" from @caromontfarm . From cheesemaker and herdswoman extraordinaire Gail's notes: "This is our homage to Bucheron, which was one of the first French cheeses ever imported to the States. Florent means blossoming, flourishing, or flowering and speaks to the soft, bloomy rind that surrounds this ripened goat cheese. We add an ash coating to help with rind development and maintain the beautiful pate-like center." It's salty, tangy, and floral and pairs beautifully with Loire Valley whites like Sancerre and Vouvray Sec! (Pasteurized, vegetarian rennet.)

Speaking of floral and chevre--check out the beautiful arrangements our very own Hel @hex.creek made for the bar! Hel used to work at Caromont with Gail and they bring talent and a love of cheese to Secco every day. Say hi if you see them in the pass next time you're in. Cheers!

Gorgeous new red on the board for #secretstash tonight! It FINALLY feels like Fall outside so we're busting out a very limited bottling from the southern Rhone: Mikael Boutin 2018 Rasteau. Brought in by importer @rosenthalwinemerchant this TINY producer (only 2 hectares) makes just this one wine from a blend of mainly Grenache plus Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan, and Cinsault in manual basket press, a couple of large concrete tanks, and little else. Importers notes: "Bright, pure nose shows clean, fresh cherry-laced fruit undercut with warmer notes of licorice and dried herbs. Not too showy--lets the terroir do the work. Brisk and lively acidity lends a freshness and energy to the fruit." Certified Organic, 40 year old vines. Only 150 cases came into the US and we got 9 bottles, so this will not last. $15/60.

Hello Friends! We are once again proud participants in Richmond Restaurant Week (now in its 20th year!) benefitting FEEDMORE. Secco is donating $5 for every Mezze Menu purchased through the end of October, and you're also welcome to donate $5 with your a la carte meal, or on our online shop when ordering retail wine to go and carryout items. A $5 donation provides up to 20 meals for neighbors in need. Thank you for helping support such a worthy cause!

New Mezze Menu dishes from Chef @julieheins tonight! It's perfectly autumnal outside and Chef is here for it! From Rappahannock Oyster Company come these perfect little "Old Salts," which she roasts and tops with bacon fat aioli, cured lemon and parsley breadcrumbs (df). Then we have the new staff favorite: Tempura-battered fried acorn squash drizzled with black pepper honey (v, gf, df). It's exactly what we want to be eating right now! Enjoy with a light-to-medium red (yes, even with oysters) like Beaujolais or Chinon for the perfect patio pairing.

New #secretstash up on the board today! This late summer weather doesn't care about the calendar so we're putting this fun and funky German wine on by the glass for patio time. A biodynamic, wild yeast fermented field blend of Chardonnay, Muller-Thurgau, Riesling, Sheurebe and Silvaner from the Brothers Brand in Pfalz is what "hard seltzer" wishes it tasted like. Zesty, salty, juicy, apple-y, citrusy, a wee bit tropical (more lychee than mango), unfined, unfiltered, with low ABV (10%) and some skin contact, it's as refreshing and lighthearted as the two brothers who make it. Bottled in April of this year. $13/52 while it lasts!

It's our fifth and final day of celebrating our Five Year "FANniversary" and we're going out with BUBBLES, of course! Tonight we'll be pouring an old favorite by the glass: Pierre Paillard "Les Parcelles" Grand Cru Champagne. Les Parcelles is a blend of 22 plots exclusively sourced in the Montagne de Reims Grand Cru village of Bouzy in Champagne. This is a pinot-dominant blend with chardonnay, with 30% reserve wines added to the 2016 base. It has four years on the less developing a rich full flavor. $20/glass while it lasts (which won't be long). Cheers!

It's day four of our FANniversary and we're bringing out the big guns! Tonight only we're pouring MAGNUMS of Raspail-Ay 2016 Gigondas! This southern Rhone appellation (neighbor to Chateauneuf du Pape) is known and loved for it's big Grenache-Syrah-Mourvedre reds with loads of "garrigue" (the wild herbs that grow around the Mediterranean--thyme, lavender, rosemary, juniper, etc.). Notes from Decanter: " From a single unbroken plot near the village of Gigondas, matured in old foudres for 18-24 months, producing a single wine - no special cuvées. It has a lovely nose, really detailed with vibrant damson compote and blackberries. Black cherries can also be coaxed out, alongside some lavender and dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied, really fresh and crisp, with a long, herbal finish. It's already dangerously drinkable and buzzes with life. Really top stuff, with a lightness of touch and elegance."

If you haven’t shopped online for a Secco wine bundle, you should. I picked up the Rose bundle this weekend, and the wines were budget friendly and oh so wonderful. I wouldn’t have expected anything less!
Elizabeth was our amazing waitress. She was so sweet and extremely knowledgeable. We were here visiting our daughter and enjoyed a wonderful happy hour with her and a co worker.
If you love a nice glass of wine to start off your night, then this is the place you’ve been looking for. I’m going to stop here for a glass or two before I head home and see Flashburn. It’s about the amnesia stricken Wes Nolan (Sean Patrick Flanery) and his race against time to find a cure for an epidemic he unintentionally created, Flashburn.
