It’s our favorite Friday of the month, Richmond!! Cheers to First Friday 🥳🎨🎭🖼️🎶🍽️
The market will feature approximately 15 artisan vendors showcasing handmade goods and artwork from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with select vendors remaining open later into the evening.
Two highly activated blocks will anchor the experience, complemented by live acoustic music:
- Near Hanbury Architecture (by Bar Solita): Tristan Dougherty and the Heart Pines will perform a live acoustic set as a full trio, now including fiddle/mandolin for a fuller sound. (tristandougherty.com)
- Near Tarrant’s Café: The Hot Seats, known for their energetic string band sound, will present a three-piece acoustic set on the sidewalk. (thehotseatsrva.com)
Music performances will run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, adding to the lively street atmosphere.
This activation is part of a broader First Fridays experience across the Arts District, including:
- Live jazz on the Valentine Museum trolley, running from the ICA to the RPAA with stops along Broad Street.
- Extended retail hours from shops like It’s a Man’s World, Woman’s World, and Haqq’s Drawer.
- The Coalition Theater’s First Friday Improv Sampler, featuring a new act every half hour. Tickets are pay-what-you-can and available online.
- Foyer Gallery’s upcoming exhibition, Monday Alchemy by Rachel Jeffers.
- Improved pedestrian access along the VPM corridor, making it easier to walk to the Elegba Folklore Society trolley stop and galleries in the eastern portion of Broad Street.
With multiple blocks activated and new connections across the district, the return of the outdoor market invites visitors to experience the full energy and creativity of First Fridays in Richmond.
