Happy Thursday!! Hope everyone is having a great week so far :) Since it is the coziest time of year and prime baking season, Iβd like to share some tips and tricks for cake beginners! π
How to keep cake super moist and fresh?
- freeze your cake when it is freshly baked. Take it out of the oven, let it cool enough to flip without breaking, and then wrap with plastic wrap to lock in moister. Freeze straight away! When you freeze freshly baked cakes, itβs stays fresh and moist. I personally am not a fan of pouring milk or syrup in the cake unless it is apart of the flavor/recipe. Then you can decorate the next day when itβs sturdy.
How to frost cake/crumb coat cake without the cake falling apart?
β’ frost frozen cake! Donβt worry, it will unthaw perfect and moist when youβre all done and decorated. First you will put some butter cream on your cake sheet to keep your cake from slipping, then stack and frost. If youβre doing fillings, put some butter cream in a piping bag and make a ring on each layer. Pour filling inside the ring. The frozen cake will keep the butter cream solid as you do this!
How long should you give yourself to make a custom layered cake?
β’minimum 2-3 days in my opinion for the cooking/decorating. However, you will βstartβ a couple weeks before. That is brainstorming the design discussed, shopping for ingredients and decor, etc. That is why I take a minimum of two weeks advanced notice for custom desserts.
Making custom desserts is not only profession of cooking but also an Art! π¨
