To Our Star Village Coffee Family,
Star Village Coffee was born out of a desire to reclaim space, flavor, and opportunity for Indigenous people in an industry that often overlooks us. Founded by Native entrepreneurs with deep roots in the Great Basin, we started as a small-batch coffee roasting operation on sovereign tribal lands with a big vision: celebrating Indigenous excellence through coffee while creating lasting economic and cultural impact for Native communities.
From day one, our mission has been clear: to serve exceptional coffee with Indigenous integrity, honor our roots, and build economic power for our people—one cup at a time.
Guided by our core principle of Rezonomics—a framework of Native-to-Native economic
self-determination—we’ve focused on supporting local economies, hiring and training Native talent, and ensuring our dollars circulate within Indigenous communities.
Rezonomics is not just a business model; it is a movement to restore prosperity, dignity, and opportunity to tribal nations through entrepreneurship and ownership.
That’s why this next part is especially hard to share. After much effort and hope, we will not be renewing an extended lease for our retail coffee shop. Despite our full intention to continue operating in our current location, the proposed agreement simply did not reflect what we believe a sustainable partnership should look like, particularly for our small family-owned
company.
This experience has been a stark reminder of how difficult it remains for Native businesses
to compete in today’s economic landscape. The historical marginalization of tribal communities is not just a chapter in the past, it continues to show up in how we access capital, real estate, and opportunity. And in today’s political climate, those barriers often feel even more entrenched.
Yet we are not discouraged. We are actively seeking a new location, where we can reopen our café and continue building the space our community deserves, a space where
Indigenous culture and specialty coffee live side by side. Until then, our story continues.
Our coffee roasting operation will remain fully active on sovereign tribal land and our
wholesale program is thriving. We will continue to supply our partners, deliver fresh roasted coffee, and grow our reach while remaining deeply grounded in our mission and values.
To our customers, our community, and all those who have supported Star Village Coffee, we thank you. You’ve helped turn a dream into a movement. You’ve allowed us to serve, share, and celebrate who we are. And while this location may be closing its doors, our journey is far from over.
Please stay connected with us via social media and our website for updates on our nextspace—stronger, bolder, and even more rooted in purpose.
With profound gratitude,
The Star Village Coffee Team
