This Saturday is a pretty special day for us. ❤️
It’s our first Hardscrabble Day as the owners of Charlie O’s and 23 East Market Street, and we wanted to do something special to celebrate with the community.

🍔 KIDS 12 & UNDER EAT FREE ALL DAY!
Purchase any entrée and the kids’ meal is on us.

But there’s something else we’re especially excited to share.

If you’ve driven or walked down Market Street, you’ve probably passed the large storefront at the front of our building countless times. Behind those doors is the historic Red Hook Lyceum Theatre — and this Saturday, we’re opening them up.

For the first time in decades, we’re inviting the community inside to take a peek at this incredible piece of Red Hook history.

We’re preparing a self-guided historic walk through the Lyceum, with 10 stops sharing pieces of the building’s story and the role this space has played in our community over the years.

And the last stop might be the most important one.

We want to hear from you.

What would you like to see happen here?

Live music, movies, theatre, comedy, classes, community events, arts and cultural programs — or maybe something we haven’t thought of yet.

We have our own ideas for bringing the Lyceum back to life, but before we determine exactly what its next chapter looks like, we want the community to have a voice in it.

Our hope is to preserve what makes this space special while once again making it a place where Red Hook can gather, experience something together, and make new memories.

So while you’re enjoying Hardscrabble this Saturday, stop into Charlie O’s, bring the kids for a meal, walk through those Lyceum doors you’ve passed so many times, explore a little Red Hook history and tell us what you’d like to see happen here.

We’re incredibly excited to finally open the doors and welcome you in.
